After taking over the task of State management of testing and granting driving licenses from the Ministry of Transport (MOT) to the Ministry of Public Security, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) - Dien Bien Provincial Police has proactively implemented the necessary steps on testing and granting driving licenses.

Speaking with Lao Dong, Lieutenant Colonel Vi Xuan Nghia - Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department - Dien Bien Provincial Police - said that the unit has not allowed any interruption in the work of serving people related to driving licenses.

To ensure the ability to carry out new tasks, the Provincial Police have organized a training course on testing and granting driving licenses to 18 officers and soldiers of the Traffic Police force.

"18 comrades are waiting to be granted examination cards, qualified and professional to participate in the examinations in accordance with the law" - Lieutenant Colonel Nghia informed.

In addition, the Traffic Police Department has proactively advised the Provincial Police, requesting the Department of Construction to direct driving training institutions to plan training and list students expected to come to the Traffic Police Department.

At the same time, the two units are actively coordinating to complete the handover and supplementation of records and data related to the testing and issuance of driving licenses.

"It is expected that by the end of May, the Traffic Police Department will organize an exam to solve the problem for hundreds of people and students who need to take the exam and get a driver's license" - Lieutenant Colonel Nghia said.

The Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department informed that the current driving training facilities are still operating normally and continue to be under the management of the Department of Construction, without changes in training functions.

"The Traffic Police Department only receives records, documents, databases, and facilities related to testing and granting licenses and does not accept officers from the old Department of Transport" - Lieutenant Colonel Nghia said.

Free accommodation for students taking the exam

Along with urgent preparation to organize exams and grant driving licenses, Dien Bien Provincial Police have arranged free accommodation for people in remote areas to Dien Bien Phu City.

The location chosen by the Provincial Police to renovate and arrange free accommodation for people from remote districts to live in and wait for the test and grant a driving license is a 2-storey building, including 12 rooms with a total of 24 beds fully equipped with blankets, curtains, mattresses and toilets...

According to Lieutenant Colonel Vi Xuan Nghia, when people come to take the driving test, they need free accommodation, only fill in information on the form provided by the Traffic Police Department for support.

As the first person to receive free accommodation support, Mr. Vu A Lu (42 years old, Dien Bien Dong town, Dien Bien Dong district) - said: "My house is over 50km from the city, making travel difficult. If I had to rent a motel, the cost would be very expensive. Thanks to free, clean, and safe accommodation, I feel very practical".
