Quang Tri border gate brightens up on New Year's Day

On February 17 (the 1st day of the Lunar New Year Binh Ngo 2026), at La Lay International Border Gate and Lao Bao International Border Gate (Quang Tri province), many businesses came to carry out customs clearance procedures for goods at the beginning of the new year, opening the way for the expectation of prosperity in import and export activities.

At Lao Bao International Border Gate, Lao Bao International Border Gate Customs, Sub-Department of Customs Region IX received the first declaration of the year and cleared the goods at 7:50 AM. The shipment of DTT Trading & Service Co., Ltd. with sugar, weighing 234 tons, with tax paid to the budget of nearly 400 million VND.

Representatives of DTT Trading & Service Co., Ltd. said that on the first day of the new year, the unit was very honored to carry out procedures for the first batch of goods. Functional agencies at the border gate created conditions, so the procedures were quickly implemented.

In 2025, Lao Bao International Border Gate recorded more excitement than in 2024. The number of vehicles entering and leaving the country reached 272,877; passengers entering and leaving the country 747,788; 12,51 declarations of import and export goods; turnover reached 737.8 million USD; cargo weight 1,231.7 thousand tons. Transit activities reached 39,397 declarations, worth 14,062 million USD. Total state budget revenue reached 462.2 billion VND, exceeding 107.5% of the assigned target.

According to La Lay International Border Gate Customs - Sub-Department of Customs Region IX, in 2025, import and export activities, and entry and exit through border gates increased positively compared to 2024. The unit has carried out procedures for 2,692 import and export declarations, total turnover reached 218.7 million USD; total weight of goods reached 2.66 million tons; 114,924 vehicle entries and exits. There were 1,005 transit declarations with a value of 36.3 million USD. State budget revenue reached 525.25 billion VND.

In January 2026 alone, La Lay International Border Gate Customs completed procedures for 224 import and export declarations, with a turnover of 17.1 million USD; total weight of goods 173 thousand tons; 10,445 vehicle entries and exits; 90 transit declarations with a value of 5 million USD. State budget revenue reached 27 billion VND, reaching 5.1% of the annual target.

To complete the budget revenue task, the unit has synchronously implemented many solutions to attract businesses. Customs closely monitors the import and export situation, entry and exit, especially for businesses importing and transporting coal; proactively grasps border gate infrastructure conditions to create maximum convenience in accordance with legal regulations.

The work of administrative procedure reform and promoting digital transformation is identified as a breakthrough. 100% of goods and vehicles declarations are carried out on the electronic system; the assignment of declarations is basically automatic, shortening waiting times. The unit continues to apply initiatives such as AI reporting, application of violation handling, CO reduction; automation of incoming and outgoing document management, thereby quickly solving problems for businesses.

In parallel with creating trade facilitation, La Lay International Border Gate Customs strengthens coordination with functional forces, especially the Border Guard, in channeling and monitoring vehicles and goods; and at the same time promotes the prevention and control of smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal transportation of firecrackers, drugs, and gold across borders.

The first shipments of the year at Quang Tri border gate not only carry the meaning of starting a new production and business cycle, but also show the business's belief in an increasingly transparent, modern and favorable customs clearance environment.
