Can Tho voters propose a special mechanism for universities in the Mekong Delta
Can Tho - The Prime Minister and the Can Tho City Delegation met with voters in the education and training sector and the health sector in the city.
On the afternoon of December 28, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Can Tho City Delegation met with voters after the 10th Session of the 15th National Assembly.
Attending the meeting with voters were Ms. Dao Hong Lan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Health; Mr. Nguyen Kim Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Education and Training.


Also attending were leaders of the Government Office, leaders of ministries and branches including: Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, leaders of departments under the Government Office and joined the Prime Minister's working delegation.
The meeting with voters after the 10th Session of the 15th National Assembly was held with the participation of more than 300 voters who are cadres, civil servants, public employees, lecturers in the education, training and health sectors in Can Tho City.

Thereby, in order to recognize and exchange voters' proposals and recommendations related to the implementation of policies and laws on education, training, and health care and the implementation of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development and Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on a number of breakthrough solutions to strengthen protection, care and improve people's health in Can Tho City for synthesis, reporting, and reflection to competent authorities under its authority to resolve according to regulations.
At the conference, voters from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy proposed and requested the Government and the Prime Minister to issue a mechanism for universities in the Mekong Delta to be completely autonomous in terms of organization, personnel, finance, and open new majors, to flexibly adapt and cooperate widely with the international community; help universities develop into knowledge centers, attract talent, and solve specific problems in the region.

At the same time, voters also proposed to continue to increase investment in infrastructure and equipment to help the Mekong Delta solve internal problems, promote potential, turn challenges into motivation and create a core force of intelligence and human resources for sustainable development of the region.
Voters also requested the Government and the Prime Minister to issue preferential mechanisms and policies on finance, land, taxes, training policies according to orders, special treatment for health workers, nurses in the field of geriatrics and create a legal framework to encourage the private sector to develop a model of geriatric care services combined with modern nursing homes; create a diverse, high-quality system, meet the " silvery economy" (economy for the elderly) and reduce pressure on the public health system, in the condition that the state budget is limited.
