Hanoi Traffic Police on duty at gateways, ready to welcome people back to the capital

Implementing the plan of Hanoi City Police, the Traffic Police Department has synchronously deployed plans to ensure traffic order and safety, focusing on gateways, beltways, bus stations and focal points to be ready to welcome people back to the capital after the holidays.

From the afternoon of January 3, the Traffic Police force in the whole city has proactively arranged forces and vehicles, deployed traffic diversion and regulation plans early and from afar. Working groups were maintained throughout January 4 and lasted until traffic returned to normal, ensuring no prolonged congestion or complicated hot spots.

At the eastern gateway of the city, on Co Linh and Dam Quang Trung routes, Road Traffic Police Team No. 5 maintains a combat force, combined with mobile patrols and monitoring vehicle traffic through the AI camera system.

The image data is updated in real time, helping the authorities proactively adjust the traffic flow plan, promptly handle arising situations, and ensure smooth traffic.

At the southern gateway, Road Traffic Police Team No. 14 deployed forces on Giai Phong, National Highway 1A, National Highway 1B, Ngoc Hoi - Phap Van area.

In addition to direct regulation at the scene, the unit coordinated with the Traffic Light Command Team to exploit data from the AI camera system to accurately measure vehicle traffic volume, thereby adjusting the traffic light cycle appropriately, limiting traffic conflicts at key intersections during peak hours in the afternoon and evening.

In parallel with regulating work, the authorities have proactively removed infrastructure bottlenecks, creating favorable conditions for people to move during peak times after the holidays.

Implementing the direction of Hanoi City Police in removing traffic congestion, Traffic Police Team No. 14 has proactively coordinated with the Department of Construction and the City Traffic Project Management Board to speed up the construction progress, re-pave the road surface, remove barriers to open National Highway 1A from Km185 to Km186+400.

Currently, National Highway 1A from Ngoc Hoi Industrial Park to the City center has been put into operation with 4 lanes, contributing to reducing traffic pressure in the southern area of the City", said Lieutenant Colonel Pham Duc Hoang - Captain of Road Traffic Police Team No. 14.

In addition, the authorities have removed the construction barrier at the Giai Phong - Kim Dong intersection; organized traffic opening from lane 15 Ngoc Hoi connecting to National Highway 1B and connecting Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway, contributing to ensuring smooth traffic, serving the travel needs of the people well.

On the Western belt routes and gateways, Road Traffic Police Team No. 7 deployed forces on National Highway 6, Nguyen Trai - Ha Dong axis; at the same time, maintained patrols and controls on the elevated Ring Road 3, proactively handled traffic incidents and collisions, not allowing prolonged congestion.

In the Pham Hung - Pham Van Dong area, My Dinh bus station and connecting routes in and out of the city, Road Traffic Police Team No. 6 increased forces from the afternoon of January 3, maintaining continuous operations on January 4, coordinating with local police and related forces to direct traffic, guide traffic, and ensure safety for people returning to the capital.

According to the assessment of the Hanoi Traffic Police Department, during the 4 days off for the 2026 New Year, traffic order and safety in the entire city are basically guaranteed.

Along with regulating and dividing traffic, the Traffic Police force continues to maintain inspections and strictly handle violations of traffic order and safety, focusing on passenger transportation, acts that are direct causes of traffic accidents such as consuming alcohol while driving, carrying more people than prescribed, stopping and picking up and dropping off passengers in the wrong place.
