Hanoi Traffic Police on duty all night of the Countdown, keeping traffic peace in the capital
Hanoi - Traffic police proactively divert traffic, be on duty throughout the Countdown night and set off fireworks, ensuring smooth and safe traffic for people to welcome the new year 2026.
In order to serve the people to have fun and celebrate the New Year 2026 safely and civilly, especially during the organization of the Countdown program and fireworks display on the night of December 31, Hanoi City Police have proactively and synchronously deployed plans to ensure security, order and traffic safety in the entire area.
From 1:00 p.m. on December 31, 2025, the Road Traffic Police Teams under the Traffic Police Department - Hanoi City Police have simultaneously launched operations at key routes and areas, focusing on traffic flow and guidance, ready to handle arising situations, ensuring smooth traffic for people participating in recreational activities during the New Year.
Early diversion, limiting congestion in the central area
According to the plan of the Hanoi People's Committee, the city will organize fireworks displays for 15 minutes, from 11:45 p.m. on December 31, 2025 to 0:00 a.m. on January 1, 2026, at 5 locations with 6 locations. At the same time, on the evening of December 31, the "Hanoi Countdown 2026" program will also take place, starting at 7:00 p.m. at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and Dinh Tien Hoang Street (Hoan Kiem Ward).
To ensure traffic safety in the central area, traffic police teams have coordinated with relevant functional units to organize remote traffic flow, guide vehicles to move along appropriate routes, limit vehicles entering the event area, and avoid prolonged congestion.
At the gateways of the capital, the traffic police force coordinated with the commune-level police and the Traffic Police Department - Ministry of Public Security to focus on regulating traffic on key routes entering and exiting highways and national highways.


According to Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Chien - Captain of Road Traffic Police Team No. 6, this year the New Year holiday is extended, people's travel needs have increased, since the early afternoon of December 31, the traffic volume on the routes to the expressway has increased sharply.
In that situation, the unit proactively arranged forces early, closely coordinated with the Traffic Police Department and local teams to organize traffic flow and regulation, minimizing the risk of prolonged congestion.
Monitoring 24/7 with AI cameras, strictly controlling alcohol concentration violations
At the Traffic Command Center, Hanoi City Police maintain a 24/7 duty force, closely monitoring the traffic situation through an AI camera system connected throughout the city.
The camera system allows real-time traffic monitoring, timely detection of congestion or other traffic situations for handling.
During the Countdown and fireworks display, AI cameras play the role of "magic eye", supporting remote traffic control, contributing to keeping traffic smooth, minimizing the risk of congestion and accidents.




In parallel with traffic diversion, the Traffic Police force has increased patrols, controls, and strictly handled violations that are direct causes of traffic congestion and accidents.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Vuong Dang Cuong - Captain of Road Traffic Police Team No. 7, the unit will maintain control of alcohol concentration before, during and after the New Year holiday, resolutely handle violations, contribute to preventing traffic accidents, ensuring safety for people to enjoy spring and celebrate Tet.


In addition, traffic police units have stepped up propaganda work, reminding people to strictly comply with legal regulations when participating in traffic; not to stop or park vehicles in violation of regulations; not to gather on the road; at the same time, strictly implement regulations on fire prevention and fighting during events and fireworks activities.
