National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife begin an official visit to Morocco
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man had a short meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives of Morocco Rachid Talbi Alami shortly after arriving in Morocco.
VNA reported that on the evening of July 24 local time (early morning of July 25 Hanoi time), Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived in the capital Rabat, starting an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco from July 24-27.
Welcoming the delegation at Sale Rabat airport, capital Rabat were Speaker of the Morocco House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami, representative of the Morocco House of Representatives, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Morocco Le Kim Quy.
Immediately afterwards, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man had a short meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives of Morocco Rachid Talbi Alami.

diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Morocco were established in 1961; after 30 years of interruption, the two countries have resumed relations since 1991 and achieved many cooperation achievements in various fields, especially from 2004 to present.
Regarding high-level delegation exchanges, most recently, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan paid an official visit to Morocco (March 2019) and Mar offese House of Representatives President Habib El Malki paid an official visit to Vietnam (December 2017). The two sides actively support each other at multilateral forums.
In terms of economy, cooperation focuses on the trade sector with bilateral turnover increasing steadily every year (13-14%), from 169.2 million USD in 2017 to over 300 million USD in 2024; in which Vietnam exports to Morocco mainly electronics, coffee, pepper, textiles, fabric, fiber of all kinds...; and imports of animal feed, fertilizers...
Cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies has developed well. On bilateral levels, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement on the official visit to Vietnam by Speaker of the House of Representatives of Morocco Habib El Malki (December 2017); regularly exchanged and maintained high-level contacts with Party committees at all levels, advisory and support agencies of the parliament.
In multilateral terms, the two sides maintain contact and consultation at forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Francophone Parliamentary Union (APF).
With the active support of the Vietnamese National Assembly - Chairman of the ASEAN Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) 2020, the Marokese National Assembly has been officially admitted as an AIPA Observer (September 2020).
It is expected that within the framework of the visit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will have meetings and talks with senior leaders of Morocco; attend a Legal Policy Forum to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Morocco; receive the President of the Morocco - Vietnam Friendship Association, Chairman of the Morocco - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group; meet with officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Morocco...
This is the first official visit of a key Vietnamese leader to Morocco in 6 years. The visit of the National Assembly Chairman will create a strong motivation for the two sides to continue promoting cooperation, especially in trade, investment, agriculture and tourism, towards the goal of bilateral trade turnover reaching 500 million USD in the coming years.
