National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man receives international greetings from ambassadors

On the afternoon of January 13, 2026, at the National Assembly House, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia Chea Kimtha, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States Marc Knapper, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Philippines Maynardo L.B. Montealegrea came to bid farewell on the occasion of the Ambassadors' end of their term of office in Vietnam.

Receiving Cambodian Ambassador Chea Kimtha, the National Assembly Chairman congratulated Cambodia on its important achievements in recent times, contributing to enhancing Cambodia's position in the region and the world, and congratulated the Ambassador on successfully completing all aspects of his work in Vietnam, contributing to the comprehensive development of the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship.

Respectfully expressing the New Year greetings and congratulations from CPP Chairman, Senate Chairman Hun Sen and Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Khuon Sudary to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Ambassador Chea Kimtha highly appreciated the fact that the Party and State of Vietnam have donated Cambodia with the National Assembly Administrative Building, considering this a symbol of traditional solidarity and friendship between the two countries, and at the same time thanked the Vietnamese National Assembly for always creating favorable conditions for the Ambassador to fulfill his duties.

Receiving US Ambassador Marc Knapper, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated the Ambassador on his successful term of office in Vietnam; respectfully thanked and highly appreciated the Ambassador's positive and effective contributions in promoting the strong, substantive and comprehensive development of Vietnam-US relations in all fields, marking the two countries' upgrading of their relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023; acknowledged the Ambassador's efforts in deepening the cooperative relationship between the two countries' National Assemblies.

Ambassador Marc Knapper respectfully thanked National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for taking the time to meet; expressed his honor to work in Vietnam during the period of strong development of the bilateral relationship, especially the milestone of upgrading the relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Ambassador highly appreciated the outstanding achievements in cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies in recent times.

Receiving Philippine Ambassador Maynardo L.B. Montealegrea, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, highly appreciated the Ambassador's role in promoting the Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the Philippines, as well as in arranging high-level visits by leaders of the two countries. The National Assembly Chairman congratulated the Philippines on its recent comprehensive achievements in economic, cultural, defense - security and foreign affairs aspects, expressing support and confidence that the Philippines will successfully organize important events as ASEAN Chair and AIPA Chair in 2026.

Ambassador Meynardo Montealegre would like to thank the support and attention of the leaders of the Party, State, ministries, departments, branches and localities of Vietnam throughout his term. The Ambassador highly appreciated the cooperation between the two countries in all fields in recent times, agreed that the two countries continue to promote economic - trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, striving to soon achieve a bilateral trade turnover of 10 billion USD. At the meeting, the Ambassador announced that the Philippines had lifted the temporary suspension of rice imports, creating conditions for the two countries to strengthen rice trade cooperation and ensure food security.
