President Luong Cuong inspects the rehearsal of the Hanoi Convention signing ceremony
President Luong Cuong assessed the Opening Ceremony of the Hanoi Convention as a particularly important event; with profound political, foreign and national significance.
VNA reported that on the morning of October 23, at the National Convention Center, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong inspected the rehearsal for the Opening Ceremony and the High-level Conference of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (Hanoi Convention), which will take place in Hanoi from October 25-26.
Also attending were Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, leaders of central ministries, branches, and Hanoi City.
At the rehearsal, the President inspected and listened to the units performing the task of reporting comprehensively on the Opening Ceremony, the United Nations High-Level Conference on Countering Cybercrime; including the script for the Opening Ceremony, the plan to welcome international delegations; the content and progress of the preparation of the welcoming art program; the detailed script for the Opening Ceremony; bilateral activities; organization plans for reporters, domestic and international press agencies to work and other related activities.
After checking and listening to the reports, President Luong Cuong assessed this as a particularly important event; with profound political, foreign and national significance; marking the first time a global multilateral Convention in a field that is of great interest to the international community associated with the name of the capital Hanoi of Vietnam.
The President acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the responsibility and proactive and thoughtful preparation work assigned by ministries, branches and units.
To better prepare according to the approved project, President Luong Cuong suggested that the authorities continue to carefully review the entire scenario, especially the ceremonial, welcoming, security and communication sections, ensuring the Opening Ceremony takes place solemnly and thoughtfully, expressing the image of Vietnam as proactive, professional and friendly in international integration. At the same time, promptly handle arising issues according to authority, ensuring progress and quality preparation.
The President emphasized that this is also an opportunity to introduce to international friends the country, people, achievements of Vietnam as well as the relationship between Vietnam and the United Nations.
The President noted that the propaganda information must ensure accuracy, full meaning and stature of the event, contributing to enhancing the image, role and position of Vietnam in the international arena.
The President requested that the reception of international delegations should demonstrate a spirit of hospitality and respect; technical, logistics and security units must coordinate closely, avoid errors, and contribute to the overall success of the Opening Ceremony as well as related activities.
The United Nations General Assembly's adoption of the Convention against Cybercrime (December 2024) and the organization of the Opening Ceremony in Hanoi is a vivid demonstration of the sense of responsibility of countries in protecting cyberspace - the common property of all of humanity.
This will be a historic milestone, affirming the value of multilateralism with the United Nations as the center, sending a strong message of Vietnam's determination to fight cybercrime, building a peaceful, fair world, and the rule of law, for the benefit of today's and future generations.
