President Luong Cuong acknowledged the impressive development of Lao Cai province

On the occasion of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, on February 23, State President Luong Cuong visited and wished New Year to the Party Committee, government, armed forces and people of ethnic groups in Lao Cai province.

Also attending were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang, along with leaders of central and Military Region 2 departments, ministries, and sectors.

On the local side, there were Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Trinh Viet Hung, along with provincial leaders, representatives of elderly people, people with meritorious services, policy families, poor households and students in difficult circumstances.

Speaking at the visit, State President Luong Cuong sent sincere greetings and best wishes for a new year to all cadres, soldiers and people of all ethnic groups in the province. At the same time, he praised the outstanding results that Lao Cai has achieved in the past time.

According to the President, after the establishment of the new province, Lao Cai has made important progress. In 2025, the economic growth rate of the province ranked 17th/34 provinces and cities in the country, ranking 2nd in the Midlands and Northern Mountains region.

The fields of culture, health, and education continue to be concerned; social security is ensured; national cultural identity is preserved; people's lives are gradually improved. Party building work has positive changes, and the great national unity bloc has been consolidated.

The President also acknowledged the local authorities' thoughtful Tet care for people through many activities of visiting and giving gifts to policy families, people with meritorious services and households in difficult circumstances.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President sent condolences to the families of the victims in the passenger ship capsizing on Thac Ba Lake on the evening of the 5th day of Tet (February 21st).

Emphasizing the tasks for the coming time, the President said that 2026 is of particular importance when starting to implement the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress and the Resolution of the 1st Lao Cai Provincial Party Congress.

The entire political system needs to make efforts, unite, and organize drastic implementation to aim for the country's 100-year goals by the milestones of 2030 and 2045.

On behalf of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in the province, Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee Trinh Viet Hung respectfully thanked the attention of Party and State leaders and central ministries and sectors.

Mr. Hung affirmed that the directions and encouragements of the President are a great source of encouragement for the locality to continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and determination to build Lao Cai to develop quickly and sustainably in the new period.
