President attends international conference on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification

On the morning of April 23, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an international scientific conference "50 years of national reunification: The role of diplomacy in creating peace in history and present" on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

Politburo member and President Luong Cuong attended and delivered a speech at the workshop.

Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son chaired the workshop.

Former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh sent a recorded message to the workshop.

The workshop took place in a direct or online combination, with the participation of Party and State leaders, leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' units, international scholars, diplomatic representatives of the delegation in Hanoi and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad.

The workshop consists of 2 sessions: Session 1 - Vietnamese diplomacy and historic victory April 30, 1975; Session 2 - The role of diplomacy in promoting dialogue, resolving disputes, and creating peace in the current situation.

50 years ago, the Great Spring Victory of 1975 ended the long-term resistance war, completely liberating the South and unifying the country. Vietnamese diplomacy has contributed to that great and great victory of the nation.

In the article "Vietnamese Embassy contributes to the Liberation of the South, National Reunification - Valuable Historical Lessons" published in Nhan Dan newspaper on the morning of April 23, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son emphasized: "If the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory gave way to the negotiation results at the Geneva Conference, the victory at the Paris Conference contributed significantly to the historic Spring Victory of 1975 . The victories on the diplomatic front during this period have left invaluable lessons, which are still valuable today".
