President highly appreciates Vietnam - Cambodia solidarity
President Luong Cuong affirmed that the traditional solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia have strategic significance.
On the afternoon of December 29, at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong received Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Vietnam Chea Kimtha to bid farewell on the occasion of the end of his term.
Expressing his delight at the important achievements that Cambodia has made in recent times in building and developing the country, the President believes that under the wise reign of King Norodom Sihamoni, with the leadership of the Cambodian People's Party, the State and the Government of Cambodia, Cambodia will continue to achieve many greater and more comprehensive achievements, towards peace, stability and prosperous development.
The President affirmed that the traditional solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia are of strategic significance, an important foundation for the two countries to jointly maintain peace, stability and sustainable development in the context of many fluctuations in the region and the world.
The President was pleased with the positive results in the friendly relations between the two countries, in which the relationship between the two Parties is orientational; defense and security cooperation continues to be a pillar; economic cooperation is a bright spot with good growth in bilateral trade turnover.
Education - training, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges continue to be promoted, contributing to enhancing understanding and long-term solidarity between the people of the two countries.
Appreciating the recent positive developments in handling the Cambodia - Thailand border conflict, the President affirmed that Vietnam welcomed the signing of a Joint Statement of the two countries on the ceasefire and measures to reduce tensions at the two countries' borders; supported the parties in resolving disagreements by peaceful means, on the basis of international law and the spirit of ASEAN solidarity.
Sincerely thanking the President for taking the time to meet, Cambodian Ambassador Chea Kimtha expressed his gratitude to the President and Vietnamese leaders for always paying attention and creating favorable conditions for the Ambassador to successfully complete the task of connecting and promoting the friendship and cooperation between the two countries during his term of work in Vietnam.
Expressing his delight at the positive development of the Vietnam - Cambodia friendship, the Ambassador said that the results achieved were clearly demonstrated through the increasingly vibrant exchanges of delegations at all levels, contributing to strengthening political trust and enhancing mutual understanding between the two countries. The Ambassador affirmed that the friendship between the two countries is a valuable asset that generations of leaders and people of the two countries have worked hard to build and nurture.
The Ambassador congratulated Vietnam on its rapid development and important achievements in recent times; highly appreciated Vietnam's policy of reforming and streamlining the apparatus, believing that under the wise leadership of the Communist Party, Vietnam will continue to achieve great achievements, successfully completing two goals by 2030 to become a developed country with modern industry and high average income; by 2045, becoming a developed country with high income.
Ambassador Chea Kimtha also highly appreciated Vietnam's role in promoting dialogue, building trust and resolving disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, contributing to maintaining peace, stability and cooperation in the region.
