Racing before Tet, rebuilding shelter for Quang Ngai people
Quang Ngai - After natural disasters, hundreds of officers and soldiers were mobilized, quickly building new and repairing houses, helping people stabilize their lives before Tet.
Rapidly rebuilding a home in the mountains and forests of Tay Tra
Tay Tra mountainous commune is one of the particularly disadvantaged localities of Quang Ngai province. During the flood that occurred last November, the whole commune had about 20 houses that were severely damaged, of which 6 were completely collapsed, forcing people to evacuate and live temporarily for many days.
December 19, 2025 became a memorable "milestone" for Tay Tra people when 6 houses were simultaneously started to be built, opening up hope for new shelters after natural disasters. The exciting atmosphere spread throughout the village, from the people to the local government.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Hoang, Deputy Political Commissar of the Defense Command of Region 1 - Son Tinh, said that immediately after receiving orders from the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command, the unit urgently sent 15 officers and soldiers to carry out the mission. The entire process of field surveys, resettlement location selection, and construction implementation took place quickly, in the spirit of "speed" of the Quang Trung Campaign.
Up to now, the "Quang Trung Campaign" in Tay Tra is entering the final stage. The officers, soldiers, and police participating in the campaign are speeding up the progress, with the goal of handing over all houses to the people before the Lunar New Year 2026.
Major Le Van Thinh, Military Assistant, Defense Command of Area 1 - Son Tinh confided that directly participating in building houses to help people is a joy and also a great responsibility of soldiers. "There are still people. How to bring the most solid and safe shelters to the people. Each brick, each barrel contains the soldiers' affection for the people, Major Thinh shared.
Tears of happiness before Tet Binh Ngo
In Tra Nga village, Ms. Ho Thi Huong could not hide her emotions when continuously coming in and out to see the new house that was gradually being completed. "My family is grateful to the Party and State for their timely attention and support after natural disasters. We hope to move to a new house every day and stabilize our lives, especially as the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year is approaching," said Ms. Huong.

The obsession with the horrific landslide in November - when a large amount of rock and soil from the mountainside suddenly collapsed onto the old house, forcing the entire Huong family to flee in a flash, is now gradually fading away as a new shelter is taking shape.
Sharing the joy, Mr. Ho Van Xoay (50 years old, in the same village) shed tears when he saw his family's 52m2 house being roofed. It is expected that on January 5, 2026, he will officially receive the house, ending a long streak of having to "ase" relatives.
"The old house collapsed, my family was left empty-handed. Economic conditions do not allow it, so rebuilding a house seems impossible. Thanks to the support of the State, that dream has now come true, Mr. Xoay said emotionally.
Mr. Truong Cong Lam, Chairman of Tay Tra Commune People's Committee, said that over the past 10 days, about 30 officers and soldiers have worked continuously, not afraid of the rain and sun. To date, the volume of works in the locality has reached about 40% of the plan. "The houses are imbued with the meaning of love - the people will soon complete so that people can feel secure in their spring and celebrate the traditional New Year", Mr. Lam said.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Hoang, as of December 30, the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command has mobilized more than 400 officers and soldiers to support people in the two provinces of Quang Ngai and Dak Lak within the framework of the "Quang Trung Campaign", building new and repairing houses for households affected by natural disasters. In Quang Ngai alone, 45 new houses have been built and 13 have been repaired.
