DUY TUẤN (báo lao động) 28/12/2025 15:59 (GMT+7)

The toll collection system, surveillance cameras and automatic weighing stations on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway have been completed to operate toll collection from January 1, 2026.

January 1, 2026 is an important milestone in the toll collection roadmap for expressways. Including the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway.

Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway under the North - South Expressway Project in the East phase 2017-2020 is invested with State budget capital.

A representative of the Thang Long Project Management Board - the project investor - affirmed that the toll collection time frame on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway will remain unchanged from January 1, 2026.

In recent days, the working group of the Ministry of Construction has directly inspected the site to assess the readiness of the non-stop toll collection system and related technical infrastructure.

"The time for toll collection has been finalized. So far, there has been no announcement about the adjustment or delay. The technical items are being reviewed and completed according to requirements," informed a representative of the Thang Long Project Management Board.

According to records, the entire Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway has installed 51 traffic surveillance camera locations, belonging to the smart traffic system (TS).

Cameras are deployed along the route and at intersections to control vehicle traffic, monitor traffic safety and serve the handling of violations.

At important intersections such as National Highway 56, National Highway 1 (Xuan Loc Commune section), DT720, National Highway 55 and Ba Bau intersection, the automatic weighing and non-stop toll station system (ETC) has been installed synchronously.

When entering the expressway, the vehicle's load will be checked right from the input, data is transmitted directly to the monitoring center.

Vehicles that violate the load after passing the automatic weighing station will be displayed information on the VMS electronic sign by the system and required to exit the highway. At the same time, data on violations will be stored to serve the work of collecting fines, contributing to limiting the situation of overloaded vehicles causing damage to infrastructure.

However, during the process of completing the toll collection system, the Thang Long Project Management Board also encountered some difficulties. Specifically, after the construction was completed, equipment, especially copper cables, some items of the lighting system and smart transportation for toll collection occurred.

In this situation, the Thang Long Project Management Board has sent a document to the People's Committees and the Police of Lam Dong and Dong Nai provinces requesting coordination in protecting assets, investigating and preventing theft, and at the same time organizing the connection and restoration of affected items to ensure operational progress.

Regarding the fee, according to the plan, group 1 vehicles will have to pay about 1,300 VND/km when traveling on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway.

This fee is determined on the basis that the route is invested in a complete scale, has a continuous emergency lane, and fully meets the technical criteria according to current regulations.

The route officially opened to traffic on April 29, 2023 and has 7 intersections, including 4 intersections in Dong Nai and 3 intersections in Lam Dong, creating favorable conditions for vehicles entering and exiting the expressway.

The implementation of toll collection from the beginning of 2026 is expected to contribute to perfecting the modern highway management and exploitation model; while ensuring the route operates safely, stably and sustainably in the long term.
