Cao Bang plans to have 53 communes and 3 wards after the merger
The Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee has just held the 68th Conference (expanded) with the main content related to the arrangement and merger of administrative units.
Accordingly, on the afternoon of April 17, the Standing Committee of the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee held the 68th Conference, approving the plan and draft of the Project on the arrangement of administrative units (ADUs) at the commune level.
According to the project, the province will reduce from 161 commune-level administrative units to 56 (53 communes and 3 wards), which means reducing 105 units (including 5 wards, 100 communes and towns).
This is the next step in the roadmap to implement Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the Central Committee on streamlining the apparatus and improving the operational efficiency of the political system. Previously, in the period of 2019-2021, Cao Bang merged, reducing from 13 to 10 district-level units and from 199 to 161 commune-level units.
The arrangement aims to overcome the situation of many communes with small scale, not meeting standards on area and population, causing resource dispersation, cumbersomeness of apparatus, and overlapping tasks between levels of government. At the same time, it is in line with the digital transformation trend and the policy of building a streamlined, effective and efficient government.
The project to merge and reorganize administrative units will be widely consulted by the people before April 21, 2025.
