News from the Office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province on December 18 said that the Provincial People's Committee officially approved the project to build 7 salinity sluices to prevent salinity and prevent high tides to protect production in agricultural areas in the old Bac Lieu province.
The purpose of the project is to prevent salinity and keep the water level fresh to serve irrigation for 27,020 hectares of agricultural land in Lang Tron ward and the communes of Vinh My, Vinh Thanh, Vinh Phuoc, Hoa Binh, Chau Thoi, Phuoc Long, Vinh Loi, Hung Hoi, Ca Mau province.
The project also has the task of preventing flooding caused by high tides, contributing to stabilizing farming conditions, improving productivity and efficiency in agricultural production; Creating favorable conditions for sustainable exploitation of land and water resources, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the area in a comprehensive and sustainable way.
According to the approved decision, the total capital of the entire project is more than 277 billion VND. Of which, the construction cost is more than 143 billion VND; The equipment cost is more than 13 billion VND, the rest is other costs.
The project is invested by the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Agricultural and Rural Development Works of Bac Lieu Province, Ca Mau Province. The implementation period is from 2026 to 2028.
