Minister of National Defense encourages earthquake relief forces

On April 3, General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense - sent a letter of encouragement to officers and professional soldiers participating in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar.

Accordingly, on the morning of March 28, 2025, a strong earthquake occurred in Myanmar, causing particularly serious damage to people and property.

According to statistics, more than 3,000 people have died and tens of thousands of people have been affected. The Myanmar government has called on the international community to support, provide first aid, and overcome the consequences.

Promoting the tradition of solidarity and mutual love "loving people as if loving" of the nation, in the spirit of "Vietnam is a friend, a reliable partner and a active and responsible member in the international community"; meet the call of the Myanmar government; Following the guidance of the Standing Committee of the Secretariat, the Prime Minister, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of Defense decided to appoint 80 officers, professional soldiers and equipment to support Myanmar to overcome the consequences of earthquakes.

According to General Phan Van Giang, despite deploying the mission in a very short period of time, facing extremely harsh weather conditions, continuing dangers from earthquakes, difficulties in equipment, living and working conditions, but with great courage, experience, qualifications and determination, the comrades did not manage difficulties, hardship and sacrifice, racing against time, taking advantage of every hour and every minute, bringing all their existing intelligence and means to coordinate the search, bringing many victims out of the collapse, handing them over to the Myanmar government.

That activity of the comrades has deeply demonstrated the noble international spirit, the fine traditions of the nation and the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers".

The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense acknowledge, commend and highly appreciate the sense of responsibility, efforts and results of the comrades.

The tasks in the coming days are still very heavy, difficult and dangerous; every moment that passes, the lives of the victims are shortened, General Phan Van Giang hopes that the officers and soldiers will continue to strive, be more determined, and help the victims more.
