Report to the Government and the two Ministries on the implementation of the third runway of the Long Thanh airport project
Dong Nai - ACV has submitted a report to the Government, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Construction to deploy the third runway and phase 2 of Long Thanh airport.
On October 12, according to information from Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), package 4.12 - construction of the second runway at the Long Thanh airport project is being mobilized by a consortium of contractors to mobilize more than 283 engineers and workers with 127 motorbikes and equipment for construction.
Package 4.12 started on May 30, 2025 by the ACC - Truong Son - Vinaconex - Vinadic - ACJC647-Khanh Thien - VTG consortium.
Currently, the contractor consortium is simultaneously implementing the construction of the roadbed, road foundation, drainage... on schedule to strive to complete the basic work of the roadbed, road foundation, cement concrete before December 19, 2025; ensure completion in sync with the passenger terminal project and put into operation in June 2026 according to the required schedule.
As for package 4.6, construction of runways, taxiways, and aircraft parking lots at Long Thanh airport, the construction contractor consortium has mobilized 2,084 personnel and 319 equipment and machinery to carry out the construction. Up to now, the runway has been basically completed.
On September 26, 2025, Long Thanh airport officially welcomed its first standard flight, with the standard flight deployed according to plan marking an important technical milestone in the roadmap to basically complete the project before December 19, 2025 and exploit the first half of 2026.
Package 4.6 is constructed by the ACC - Truong Son - Vinaconex - Vinadic - Cienco4 - ACJC647 consortium, and started in August 2023, with a construction period of 23 months. After that, the progress was adjusted to complete and technically exploit the runway before April 30, 2025 (3 months ahead of schedule).
Component project 3 - Essential works in the Airport under the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project Phase 1 invested by ACV include 14 packages.
The scale of phase 1 of the project with 2 runways, 1 passenger terminal and synchronous auxiliary items with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year; 1.2 million tons of cargo/year.
The project has a total investment of more than VND 99,000 billion, basically completed in 2025; put into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026.
At the same time, implementing the direction of the Prime Minister, ACV has issued Document No. 4219/TTr-TCTCHKVN dated September 24, 2025 reporting to the Government, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Construction to immediately deploy the third runway and phase 2 of Long Thanh International Airport (Long Thanh airport) in accordance with the provisions of law.
