229 inter-level boarding schools in border communes have been started

On March 19, the groundbreaking ceremony and groundbreaking simultaneously took place at 121 inter-level boarding schools, corresponding to 121 land border communes in 17 provinces and cities with borders.

The central bridge point is located at Dong Dang Primary and Secondary Boarding School, Dong Dang commune, Lang Son province.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Party and Government leaders, Government members, leaders of ministries, leaders of provinces and cities that started construction and broke ground for the school.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated clearly that this is an important event, showing the deep concern of the Party and State for the cause of education in the border region of the Fatherland in the spirit of "The whole country towards the border, for the future of children of ethnic minorities".

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully thanked General Secretary To Lam for his special concern and regular leadership and direction of the construction of inter-level boarding schools in border communes and for directly attending and directing the groundbreaking ceremony at the central bridge point.

According to the direction of General Secretary To Lam, on July 18, 2025, the Politburo issued Conclusion Notice No. 81-TB/TW agreeing on the policy of investing in the construction of inter-level boarding primary and secondary schools in 248 land border communes.

Currently, 100 inter-level boarding schools have been simultaneously started nationwide on November 9, 2025; accumulated to the end of 2025, 108 schools have been started to be built; of which 01 school has been completed and put into use on January 31, 2026 (Si Pa Pin Primary and Secondary Boarding School, Si Pa Pin commune, Dien Bien province).

The Prime Minister said that after a thorough preparation of the necessary conditions of relevant ministries, branches, and localities, localities continue to organize the groundbreaking ceremony and simultaneous groundbreaking of 121 multi-level boarding schools in land border communes.

Along with 108 schools that started construction in 2025, bringing the total number to 229 inter-level boarding general education schools, creating conditions for comprehensive education development for students in 229 land border communes.

The Government and the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Education and Training and localities to continue to review the needs and practical conditions in border communes to deploy school construction according to the policy of the Politburo, and study to report to the Politburo and the General Secretary towards expanding to special zones (islands).

To ensure that school construction projects are completed soon, put into use and promote efficiency, the Prime Minister requested the Acting Minister of Education and Training, heads of ministries and relevant agencies, especially Party Secretaries and Chairmen of localities, to continue to focus on leading and directing drastically, promptly resolving difficulties and obstacles, and supporting the implementation of projects with high determination, great effort and the most drastic actions.

Units inspect and urge construction contractors and supervision consultants to use resources effectively, economically, in accordance with legal regulations, without loss or waste, ensuring quality, technique, aesthetics, function, efficiency and completion before August 30, 2026 for schools that started construction in 2025 and completion before August 30, 2027 for schools that started construction and broke ground today.
