The May 2026 pension and social insurance allowance payment schedule will be adjusted
Because the periodic payment date falls at the end of the week, the Social Insurance Agency (BHXH) of Hanoi City will adjust the payment schedule for pensions and social insurance allowances in May 2026.
In recent days, many people in Hanoi have paid special attention to the schedule of pension and social insurance allowance payments for May 2026, especially in the context that the payment time coincides with the weekend holiday.
According to the direction of Vietnam Social Security, the Hanoi City Social Insurance agency implements the transfer of monthly pension and social insurance allowance payments through personal accounts on the 2nd working day of the month. In case this day coincides with a day off or a holiday, the payment will be postponed to the next working day.
Specific information about the May 2026 payment period, Ms. Duong Thi Minh Chau - Head of the Propaganda and Support Department for Social Insurance participants of Hanoi City - said: According to the usual schedule, the payment date is May 2, 2026. However, because this day falls on Saturday (holiday), the transfer of money through personal accounts will be carried out on Monday, May 4, 2026.
For cases of receiving pensions and social insurance allowances in cash, the social insurance agency will coordinate with the postal system to develop a payment plan immediately after the time of completing the transfer, ensuring that beneficiaries receive money in a timely and full manner - after May 4, 2026.
Therefore, people receiving pensions and social insurance allowances will receive money after the holidays of January 30th and May 1st.
Reality shows that the payment method through personal accounts is becoming a dominant trend in the social security system.
Data from the April 2026 payment period (phase 1) shows that Hanoi City has more than 606,800 people on the list receiving pensions and social insurance allowances, with a total payment amount of more than 4,199 billion VND.
Among them, there are over 604,160 people receiving money through ATM accounts, accounting for 99.56%, equivalent to more than 4,158 billion VND. This rate clearly reflects the effectiveness of digital transformation and cashless payments in the field of social insurance.
According to the Hanoi City Social Insurance Agency, the adjustment of the payment schedule in May 2026 is to ensure compliance with regulations on working days, and at the same time not to interrupt the rights of beneficiaries.
The Social Insurance sector also recommends that people continue to use the form of receiving money through personal accounts to reduce waiting times, limit direct contact and ensure safety during the money receipt process.
With the rate of non-cash payment reaching almost absolute, along with proactively adjusting the schedule accordingly, the payment of pensions and social insurance allowances in Hanoi in May 2026 is expected to continue smoothly, contributing to ensuring stable life for hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries.
