Paying 50% of health insurance for out-of-zone examinations will reduce a part of the burden on people
From July 1, 2026, many central-level hospitals will apply a policy of paying 50% of the health insurance benefit level for outpatients outside the tuyến.
The figure of 50% may not be something that satisfies all patients. But looking at the progress of perfecting health insurance policies over the years, this is still a noteworthy step forward.
Because before that, when outpatient examinations outside the line at these hospitals, most patients were not paid by the Health Insurance Fund.
That means they have to pay almost all expenses themselves, even though they still regularly participate in health insurance.
For many people, especially patients with chronic diseases who have to re-examine regularly or people in localities who need access to high-tech services, the new policy will help reduce financial burdens.
A support of a few hundred thousand VND for each examination may not be too much for some people, but it is a significant expense for many families with average or low incomes.
Looking at it from that perspective, this is a new feature in expanding the benefits of health insurance participants, showing the spirit of putting patients at the center of social security policies.
Of course, in the field of medical examination and treatment, in addition to the policy of paying 50% of the health insurance benefit level for outpatients outside the tuyến, people still have many other wishes.
For example, it is expected that the payment scope will continue to be expanded in the future, not just 50% as at present, medical examination and treatment procedures will be more convenient, and the list of drugs and techniques covered by insurance will become more and more complete...
That is a completely legitimate expectation, because medical examination and treatment costs are increasing, while not everyone has the economic conditions to pay when unfortunately sick.
In the immediate future, the fact that the Health Insurance Fund is starting to share a part of the outpatient examination costs outside the line is already a positive sign. It shows that policies are changing in the direction of paying more attention to the rights of participants.
These small but continuous steps will make the health insurance card increasingly valuable in people's lives. People will be willing to participate and stick with health insurance when they see their rights increasingly concerned and expanded.
