Businesses fail to promise to pay salaries and deposits, many drivers plan to sue
Gia Lai - After many times businesses failed to promise to pay salaries and deposits, many drivers asked the Trade Union for support to sue to recover the remaining debts.
Losing patience, driver plans to sue
After Lao Dong Newspaper intervened to reflect on the sudden cessation of operations of Green Car Transport Co., Ltd. (address No. 96 Che Lan Vien, Quy Nhon Nam ward, Gia Lai province), owing salaries and deposits of 22 drivers, the business owner paid a portion of the salary to some workers (NLĐ).
However, this enterprise still did not fulfill its commitment to pay all salaries and refund deposits to drivers in June 2026 as agreed at the working session on May 21 between the Gia Lai Provincial Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) and employees.
Many times being broken promises by businesses, a group of drivers have requested the Gia Lai Provincial Labor Federation to support the implementation of procedures to sue businesses and demand the remaining debts.
Sharing with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Van Hoa (born 1967, residing in Quy Nhon ward) said that he started working when the company first started operating - May 2025. At the beginning of March 2026, the company suddenly stopped operating, requesting the driver to hand over the car and quit his job.
To date, the business still owes him 1.5 million VND in salary for working days in March and 5 million VND in deposits - the amount that drivers must pay when getting jobs, and is committed to being returned after handing over the car to the company.
The company has recalled the car, closed for many months but has not yet paid the salary and deposit. The Director has promised many times but has not paid me until now," Mr. Hoa said.
Losing his job for many months, and being owed salaries and deposits, Mr. Hoa's family life fell into hardship. As the main breadwinner in the family, he is old, so he has not yet found a suitable new job, while the pressure of "food, clothing, and money" is increasingly weighing down on him.
Indignant, Mr. Hoa requested the Trade Union organization to guide legal procedures to recover his "sweat and effort" money.
After being guided by Trade Union officials, he sent a petition to the Labor Mediator of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs of Quy Nhon Nam ward, requesting mediation of disputes with businesses.
I can't wait any longer. If the company still doesn't pay, I will sue. I propose that functional agencies soon intervene and force the business to pay the remaining debts to us," Mr. Hoa said.
Similarly, Mr. Tran Xuan Vinh (born 1978, residing in Quy Nhon Bac ward) also proposed that the Trade Union organization intervene and request businesses to pay outstanding debts.
After ceasing operations, the company still owes me more than 4.7 million VND in salary and 3 million VND in deposit. We only hope to receive back the money made by our own labor," Mr. Vinh said.
Businesses break promise again
Driver Nguyen Phuong Dung (born in 1995, residing in Quy Nhon Nam ward) said that after the reflection of Lao Dong Newspaper, she had received her entire salary. However, the deposit of 2 million VND has not been returned to date.
Mr. Nguyen Nhu Hoang Xuan Quang - Director of Green Car Transport Co., Ltd. - admitted that the enterprise has not yet completely resolved salaries and deposits for drivers according to the committed deadline.
During the time the company stopped operating, I still tried to manage financially to gradually pay the drivers. Recently, after working with the Department of Home Affairs and the Provincial People's Committee, I applied for an extension until August to resolve outstanding debts for employees," Mr. Quang said.
Representatives of Gia Lai Provincial Labor Federation confirmed that by the end of June 30, Green Car Transport Co., Ltd. had not yet paid all salaries and deposits to employees as committed.
After the committed deadline, the business owner has only paid a small part compared to the total amount owed to employees. Therefore, 6 drivers have requested the Provincial Trade Union to guide the procedures for suing the business," said a representative of the Gia Lai Provincial Labor Federation.
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, Green Car Transport Co., Ltd. stopped operating from the beginning of March 2026. However, after many months, the enterprise has not fully paid salaries and returned deposits to employees, with a total amount of more than 136 million VND.
Drivers have repeatedly contacted and directly come to the company to request payment, but all without results. It is worth mentioning that among the drivers who are owed money, many are the main laborers, shouldering the expenses of the whole family.
Losing their jobs suddenly, and being owed salaries and deposits, they have to struggle to manage living expenses, rent, raising young children, taking care of elderly parents... while still struggling to find new jobs.
