Cao Bang farmers struggle to recover after historic storms and floods

Cao Bang - The locality suffered more than VND4,000 billion in damage due to storm and flood circulation.

According to the reporter's records, after two storms No. 10 and 11, in Nung Tri Cao ward (Cao Bang province alone, the locality suffered damage to 147 hectares of rice, more than 70 hectares of corn, vegetables and 5.9 hectares of fruit trees and ornamental peach gardens. This is the main source of livelihood for 933 households, mainly agricultural production.

After the storm and flood, many areas of the ward were in disarray, with fields and gardens covered, and property and livestock suffered great damage. However, nearly a month after the natural disaster, people have gradually stabilized and restored production. Despite many difficulties, people in Nung Tri Cao ward have shown a resilient spirit, determined to rebuild their lives and soon bring production back to normal.

Mr. Nong Hoang Long (Nung Tri Cao ward) - shared: "There are still many difficulties, but I and everyone have to try, there are many things to worry about and spend at the end of the year".

Recently, the People's Committee of Cao Bang province issued the conclusion of Chairman of the People's Committee of Le Hai Hoa province on implementing support for people to overcome the damage caused by storms No. 10 and 11.

Since the beginning of 2025, heavy rain, landslides and flooding have caused damage of over VND 4,246 billion. To date, the province has allocated 281.9 billion VND from the central and local budgets for rescue and repair of essential infrastructure, but resources are still lacking compared to demand.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hai Hoa suggested that the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee mobilize more social resources, coordinate with localities to support people in repairing houses, restoring agricultural production, ensuring necessities and stabilizing their lives. The Provincial Fatherland Front is assigned to advise on allocation from the Relief Fund, supervise implementation and report before November 5, 2025.

Departments, branches and localities continue to review the damage, propose support to the right subjects, be transparent and not spread out. The Department of Agriculture and Environment must complete the list of agricultural support by October 24. The Provincial People's Committee Office is responsible for advising on handling content beyond its authority according to regulations.

The province has identified priorities for mobilizing many resources to quickly restore people's lives and production after natural disasters.

It is known that as of October 25, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cao Bang province has allocated over 48 billion VND to support people affected and damaged by natural disasters.
