Consultation to unify the list of 217 candidates for the 16th National Assembly

Ensuring regulations, scheduled progress

On the afternoon of February 2nd, in Hanoi, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) organized the second consultation conference to agree on the preliminary list of people belonging to agencies, organizations, and units at the Central level who are introduced to run for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term.

Presiding over the Conference were Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central Agencies, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairman of the National Election Council, Head of the Steering Committee for Election Work of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Ms. Ha Thi Nga - Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central Agencies, Vice Chairman - Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Election Work of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Hoang Cong Thuy - Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Attending the Conference were Ms. Ha Thi Khiet - former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization, Non-specialized Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Member of the National Election Council; Mr. Nguyen Huu Dong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly Deputy Affairs Committee; Mr. Dang Khanh Toan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; Mr. Nguyen Phi Long - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Central Agencies; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai said that according to regulations and to ensure democracy in selecting and introducing typical candidates for the 16th National Assembly, the Consultative Conference will be held 3 times. The Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front organized the first Consultative Conference on December 4, 2025.

After the first consultation conference, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued a Resolution adjusting for the first time the structure, composition, and number of people of agencies, organizations, and units at the central and local levels who are introduced to run for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term. On that basis, agencies, organizations, and units have organized Conferences to introduce and collect voters' opinions at their workplaces for candidates for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term of their agencies, organizations, and units.

The National Election Council and the National Assembly Standing Committee have received dossiers of 217 candidates for the 16th National Assembly and transferred them to the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in accordance with regulations and the set schedule," Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai informed.

Ensuring democracy, objectivity, and compliance with legal regulations

Presenting the Report on the situation and results of introducing people from agencies, organizations, and units at the Central level to run for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Hoang Cong Thuy said that the introduction of candidates for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term took place in a short period from December 17, 2025 to January 25, 2026, with a spirit of urgency, seriousness, and democracy; agencies, organizations, and units at the Central level have organized correctly and fully the steps to introduce candidates for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term according to regulations.

Accordingly, 217/217 people who were introduced to run for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term were all trusted and introduced by 100% of voters at their workplaces. Through summarizing the Minutes of the voters' meeting at their workplaces and the Minutes of the expanded leadership meeting to introduce candidates for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term, there have been no opinions or cases raising issues or cases related to the person being introduced to run for election that need to be verified.

At the conference, the elders, dignitaries, and comrades promoted the spirit of responsibility, discussed, and contributed heartfelt, objective, frank, and democratic opinions to the list of 217 people recommended for candidacy. The opinions clearly stated that these are people who meet the standards and conditions to run for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term; and at the same time emphasized the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in presiding over and coordinating the organization of consultations, ensuring democracy, objectivity, and compliance with legal regulations, making important contributions to the success of the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels on March 15, 2026.

From the opinions discussed at the conference, 100% of delegates voted highly unanimously on the list of 217 people introduced by central agencies, organizations, and units to run for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term in accordance with the provisions of the Election Law and the guidance of the National Election Council and the National Assembly Standing Committee.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai emphasized that after an urgent, serious, democratic and highly responsible working session, the second consultation conference of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has completed the entire content and program set out.

Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai said that immediately after the Conference, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will complete the minutes, fully summarize the results of the consultation, and transfer them to the National Election Council and the National Assembly Standing Committee according to regulations; and at the same time urge the Standing Committees of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of provinces and cities to organize conferences to collect voters' opinions at their place of residence on time and prepare tasks to serve the third consultation conference.

On behalf of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai respectfully thanked and wished the elderly, dignitaries, and comrades a new year of health, happiness and success; and at the same time hoped that the elderly, dignitaries, and comrades would continue to accompany the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the process of preparing and successfully organizing the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels, term 2026 - 2031.
