Quang Tri - Mr. Dinh Van Tam and his colleagues made a beautiful horse statue to sell to raise funds as gifts to support poor people during Tet.

As early as July 2025, Mr. Dinh Van Tam (35 years old, living in Trieu Binh commune) and a group of colleagues came up with the idea of making a really impressive horse statue. Instead of chasing urgent progress, the group agreed to take advantage of the lunch break and evening to come up with ideas, buy materials and construct, with the goal of creating a product that is both durable and highly aesthetic.

Because he only works in his free time, the process of completing the statue takes many months. However, according to Mr. Tam, it is that slowness that helps each detail to be taken care of more carefully. By January 23, the statue only had a few small points that needed to be completed, but the overall look was already outstanding, creating a strong impression on viewers.

The horse statue is 2.2 m high, 2.6 m long, the outside is covered with a yellow alu, creating a sparkling light reflection effect when displayed. According to calculations, if not counting the working days, the cost of materials and expenses to make the statue alone is about 40 million VND.

When the statue was basically completed, Mr. Tam posted the image on social media and expressed his desire to auction it to raise funds as Tet gifts for the poor. This humane idea quickly received the attention and support of the community. After that, Khe Sanh Commune People's Committee decided to buy the statue for 70 million VND. It is expected that after completing the final details, the statue will be handed over to the locality in the coming days.

With the money collected, Mr. Tam and his colleagues agreed to allocate all of it to support people in need during Tet. In the immediate future, the group will contribute 25 million VND to the Tet program for the poor organized by the People's Committee of Trieu Binh commune, part of the funding from selling horse statues will be used as gifts for households in difficult circumstances in Khe Sanh commune.

"The group will allocate a small amount of money to each place, using 70 million VND to sell horse statues and then stop, just for the original purpose of helping people celebrate Tet warmer" - Mr. Tam shared.

According to the People's Committee of Khe Sanh commune, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026, the locality will organize the "Khe Sanh Session Market" to serve the spring shopping needs of people and tourists. The horse statue will be displayed at the market space, creating a cultural highlight, while spreading the message of sharing. Notably, the cost of purchasing statues is socialized, not using the state budget. On the opening day of the market, the commune will also organize the program "Connecting arms of kindness" and give Tet gifts to people in difficult circumstances.

It is known that in addition to the horse statue to raise funds this time, Mr. Dinh Van Tam and his colleagues also made many other horse statues according to orders from agencies, organizations and individuals. Mr. Tam is a familiar face every Tet holiday, known as the author of many large-scale mascots and decorative statues, having attracted a large number of people to visit and take photos, contributing to creating a bustling and warm atmosphere in the first days of Spring.
