Small capital sources help Lam Dong women escape poverty effectively
Lam Dong - The movement of women helping each other develop the economy has spread widely, with many creative ways to help each other escape poverty from small capital.
Ms. H Chen (bon Sapa, Thuan An commune, Lam Dong province) shared that for many consecutive years, her family has been near-poor. The couple often work for hire to raise 3 young children, without conditions for production or raising livestock.
In 2024, she was supported by the Commune Women's Union with 10 million VND in livelihood capital to buy 1 calf and 2 goats. Up to now, the herd has developed well, begun to breed, opening up opportunities for her family to escape poverty sustainably.
"With capital support and technical guidance on animal husbandry, my family's economy has improved. Thanks to that, I have more confidence to work, take care of my children and improve my life," said Ms. H Chen.
Ms. H'Vi Eban - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, President of the Women's Union of Lam Dong province - said that the whole province currently has more than 546,000 women's members active in 2,773 branches. The Association has launched a movement for women to help each other develop the economy, spreading widely, helping many households escape poverty sustainably, contributing to ensuring social security.
Currently, the Association is managing more than VND6,000 billion in entrusted capital at the Social Policy Bank, maintaining 2,212 loan savings groups with more than 102,000 households borrowing to raise livestock, produce, and develop the economy. In addition, more than 65 billion VND from projects and funds to support women has also been effectively implemented, helping poor members have conditions to develop livelihoods.
In addition to financial support, the Association also focuses on training, technical transfer, and mobilizing social resources to provide livelihoods and production means for poor women and single women.
Support programs, projects, and funds not only bring practical capital but also arouse the spirit of self-reliance and the will to rise up. Many women have escaped poverty and become rich legitimately from small investments, Ms. H'Vi Eban emphasized.
