The banking industry spends more than VND 4,200 billion to support union members

On December 25-26, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Banking Trade Union (VBTU) held the 8th Congress of Delegates for the 2025-2030 term. 297 official delegates, representing more than 200,000 union members and workers (DV, NLD) working in the banking system attended the congress.

Caring for union members is a highlight

In the 2023-2025 period, closely following the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Resolution of the 7th Congress of the Vietnam Banking Federation, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Banking Federation has focused on leading and directing the entire system to perform well the function of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of employees; accompanying professional staff to successfully complete the political tasks of the banking sector.

Caring for union members' lives continues to be a highlight. In the period of 2023 - 2025, the whole system has spent more than 4,200 billion VND on welfare programs, supporting union members and employees; promptly supporting employees affected by organizational restructuring, natural disasters, epidemics and especially difficult circumstances.

Patriotic emulation movements, focusing on the movement "Good workers, Creative workers", were widely deployed, attracting a large number of union members to participate. The cultural and sports movement was widely organized with 95% of grassroots trade unions implementing activities, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere, connecting union members and employees.

Women's work continues to be a bright spot with 92% of female union members achieving the title of "Good at Banking - Good at Housework"; thousands of female union members in difficult circumstances and tens of thousands of union members are cared for, supported and rewarded.

Social security activities have been widely deployed, with the total value of the entire banking system reaching more than VND4,000 billion, contributing to spreading the image of the humane banking industry and community responsibility.

Ms. Nguyen Khanh Chi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union - said that the 8th Congress of Delegates, term 2025 - 2030, is an important political event of the team of cadres, union members, and employees of the banking industry, organized according to Directive No. 48-CT/TW dated June 24, 2024 of the Central Party Secretariat on the leadership of the Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at all levels.

The Congress took place in the context of the country continuing to promote innovation, digital transformation and streamlining the apparatus of the political system; the banking sector plays a key role in stabilizing the macro economy, controlling inflation, supporting growth and ensuring social security. The 8th VGCL Congress was held in 2 working sessions.

At the first session (afternoon of December 25), the Congress listened to the Review Report of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Executive Committee, term VII; discussed and commented on the draft amendments and supplements to the Charter of Vietnam Trade Union and contents related to the Trade Union organization in the new period. With a democratic and responsible spirit, the Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Bank for Industry Executive Committee, term VIII, 2025 - 2030.
