Hung Yen: Union officials send recommendations to the 14th Congress

From the practical care and companionship with workers at enterprises, grassroots union officials in Hung Yen province expressed their appreciation for the role of the trade union organization, and at the same time sent specific expectations and recommendations to the 14th National Party Congress, with the hope that workers will continue to be placed at the center of development policies.

In the last days of the year, in the workshop of Hung Yen Garment Corporation in Pho Hien ward, the working atmosphere became more urgent than usual.

The sewing lines focus on completing the last orders of the year, everyone hopes for a full Tet after a year of great efforts.

During the shift shift, Mr. Hoang Xuan Nam - Chairman of the Trade Union of Hung Yen Garment Corporation - directly went to the workshop, together with the Trade Union staff to disseminate content related to salary regime, Tet bonus and policies to care for workers' lives at the end of the year. The information is publicly announced and clearly at the workplace to help workers feel secure and focus on production.

According to him, last year, despite the pressure of production and business, the Trade Union has closely coordinated with enterprises to maintain jobs and ensure income for workers; at the same time, paying attention to practical factors such as improving the quality of shift meals, improving working conditions in factories, promptly visiting sick workers, work-related accidents, and difficult circumstances.

The union also organizes activities towards workers, such as: Organizing union meals, cultural exchanges, banh chung packaging competitions between departmental unions and caring for workers far from home.

From practical activities at the grassroots level, Mr. Hoang Xuan Nam expressed his appreciation and thanked the Trade Union organizations at all levels for always paying attention, directing, and creating conditions for the grassroots Trade Union to perform well its tasks.

He emphasized: "On behalf of the staff, union members and workers of Hung Yen Garment Corporation, I would like to thank the Trade Union organization for always accompanying and supporting in a timely manner, helping the grassroots Trade Union have more resources and confidence to better care for workers".

Not only stopping at the story of caring for the end of the year, Mr. Hoang Xuan Nam also shared the expectations of workers and laborers for the 14th National Party Congress. According to him, workers are especially interested in major policies and guidelines that have a direct impact on their lives and jobs.

"Workers hope that the 14th Congress will continue to make more practical decisions to improve the material and spiritual life of workers" - Mr. Nam said.

Mr. Nam suggested that the Party and State continue to improve salary policies towards ensuring living standards and accumulation for workers; pay more attention to housing policies and social welfare for workers in industrial parks and clusters; and at the same time create conditions for trade unions to better promote their role as representatives and protect the legitimate and legal rights of workers.

Hope the policy is closer to workers' lives

From the sewing workshop, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Hualida Thai Binh Garment Company Limited (Phuc Khanh Industrial Park) brought a very real-life perspective, very close to the lives of workers, especially female workers.

According to Ms. Hanh, garment workers mostly have income dependent on orders, high labor intensity, while life is full of worries. Therefore, the support of the Trade Union organization is of great significance, helping workers feel secure in sticking with the enterprise.

"There are times when workers are in difficulty, if there is no Trade Union to share, listen and make recommendations, it is easy to develop a depressed mentality" - Ms. Hanh said.

At Hualida Thai Binh Garment Company Limited, the grassroots trade union always strives to fulfill its role as a bridge between workers and business leaders. From shift meals, salary regimes, overtime to activities to care for spiritual life, the Trade Union participates with specific responsibilities. According to Ms. Hanh, when the Trade Union plays its role well, businesses will also have more advantages in managing and retaining workers.

Sharing about her expectations for the 14th National Party Congress, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh said that what workers are most looking forward to is still practical, long-term policies. Not only immediate income, workers really need social housing, schools for their children, and appropriate medical services. These are issues that need to be addressed by macro-level policies, said Ms. Hanh.

From the practical activities of grassroots trade unions, Ms. Hanh also suggested that it is necessary to continue to pay attention to improving the quality of trade union staff. According to her, in the context of increasingly complex labor relations, grassroots union officials need to be properly trained in labor law, dialogue and negotiation skills to be able to represent workers.

"We believe that, from the voices at the grassroots level, the 14th National Party Congress will continue to set out the right policies and decisions, creating more motivation for workers to work with peace of mind, stick with businesses and the Trade Union organization" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh emphasized.
