Trade union activities in 2025: Ad coveredness to adapt, a solid support for workers

The outstanding results of trade union activities in 2025 show that an organization is not only " Maintaining" tradition but is also persistent in creating a foundation for the next development stage.

Stableer labor and employment, continued improvement in income

In the context of a basically stable macro economy, controlled inflation, promoted science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, the labor market in 2025 recorded many positive signals. The country has about 52 million people in jobs, an increase of more than half a million people compared to the previous year; the unemployment rate continues to decrease, reflecting the recovery and positive transformation of the economy.

The income of workers has improved significantly, with the average income in the first 9 months of the year reaching about 8.3 million VND/month, an increase of 10% over the same period. In particular, the Lunar New Year bonus in 2025 increased by 13% compared to the previous year, a signal that the sharing of responsibilities is becoming increasingly clearer between businesses and employees.

However, behind the positive numbers there are still many worries. A part of workers are affected by the process of restructuring and streamlining the apparatus; natural disasters, floods, and extreme weather directly affect livelihoods; violations of labor laws, unpaid wages, and social insurance debts still occur in some places. In that context, the role of the Trade Union organization is even more clearly demonstrated.

Proactively representing and protecting workers' rights

One of the most outstanding marks of trade union activities in 2025 is the initiative and responsibility in participating in building and perfecting institutions. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has contributed to giving comments on dozens of draft laws, resolutions, decrees, and circulars directly related to workers and trade union organizations; at the same time, closely coordinating with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in the process of amending and supplementing the 2013 Constitution and important laws such as the Trade Union Law, the Social Insurance Law, and the Law on Grassroots Democracy.

In particular, the participation in the National Wage Council and the proposal to increase the regional minimum wage from January 1, 2026 with an average increase of 7.2%, showing that the representative voice of the Trade Union is increasingly substantial and weighty, contributing to ensuring a minimum living standard for workers in the context of high living pressure.

At the grassroots level, dialogue and collective bargaining work continues to be improved in both quantity and quality. Trade unions at all levels have promptly taken action in collective work stoppages, coordinated with authorities and businesses to dialogue and remove obstacles, helping the majority of workers return to work soon, minimizing prolonged conflicts in labor relations.

Spreading the spirit of sharing

2025 continues to mark the activities of caring for union members and workers, especially those in difficult circumstances. Tet care programs are organized methodically and flexibly, focusing on the grassroots, ensuring "no one is left behind".

Faced with the severe impact of natural disasters, storms and floods in many northern and central provinces, the Trade Union organization quickly launched a fundraising campaign, promptly supporting union members and workers who suffered losses. Amorate trips, support packages to the right place, at the right time not only have material value but are also a great source of spiritual encouragement.

A highlight rich in humanity is the simultaneous organization of more than 5,000 "Union Meals" across the country, on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union and major holidays. The warm and friendly dining space has contributed to connecting workers with businesses and trade unions, creating a strong bond in the working environment.

At the same time, the Trade Union actively participates in proposing and implementing social housing projects and housing for workers, including starting construction of housing projects for workers to rent in some localities. This is a long-term direction, demonstrating the responsibility of the Trade Union organization in solving fundamental security problems for workers.

Encourage creativity

With the theme "Vietnamese workers pioneering in entering a new era", Workers' Month in 2025 has truly become a major highlight in the lives of workers and laborers. A series of practical and creative activities were implemented from the grassroots to the central level, attracting a large number of union members and workers to participate.

The National Creative Labor Festival and the Forum "Promoting the Creative Potential of Workers" have created a space for connection, exchange, and encouragement of the spirit of innovation and initiative among workers, civil servants, and laborers. As a result, more than 186,000 initiatives have been applied in practice, with the value of benefiting tens of thousands of billions of VND - numbers that speak to the pioneering role of workers in improving productivity, quality and efficiency.

Streamlining the apparatus, developing union members

Implementing the resolutions and conclusions of the Central Committee on streamlining the organizational apparatus, the Trade Union organization has proactively reviewed and rearranged the organizational system in the direction of streamlining, effectiveness and efficiency. Reducing focal points, restructuring professional departments and public service units along with taking care of regimes and policies for affected staff shows the determination but humanity in the innovation process.

Along with that, the work of developing union members has achieved outstanding results. In 2025, the country will actually increase the number of union members by more than 622,000, and establish nearly 2,900 grassroots unions, including many unions in the informal sector. Nearly 60,000 outstanding union members were introduced to the Party for consideration, training, and admission, contributing to affirming the role of the Trade Union in participating in Party building and building a clean and strong political system.

The patriotic emulation movement spreads strongly

The 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress among workers, civil servants, and laborers and honoring programs such as " Glory of Vietnam", "Outstanding Enterprises for Workers" continue to affirm the value of the patriotic emulation movement in the new era. The honored collectives and individuals are not only typical examples of advanced technology but also a source of inspiration, spreading the spirit of dedication and social responsibility in the business community and workers.

Overall, trade union activities in 2025 show that an organization is changing strongly, both steadfast in the goal of representing, caring for, and protecting workers, and proactively innovating the methods of operation, adapting to the requirements of a modern economy and deep integration.

The results achieved in 2025 are not only the result of a year of efforts but also an important foundation for the Trade Union to enter 2026 and the new term 20262031 with a proactive mindset, courage and aspiration to contribute, continue to accompany workers and the sustainable development of the country.
