The 14th National Party Congress will be a congress of humane and breakthrough decisions
On the eve of the 14th National Party Congress, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - President of the Trade Union of Hung Yen University of Technical Education expressed many expectations.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Head of the Faculty of Basic Sciences, President of the Trade Union of Hung Yen University of Technical Education (Vietnam Education Trade Union) said: "Sharing the spirit of the whole country, I as well as millions of cadres, teachers and workers in the education sector are looking forward to the 14th Congress with excitement, pride and full of expectations".
According to Ms. Thuy, the message about "the era of national growth" mentioned by the Central Committee has touched the deep aspirations of the intellectual world. The team of cadres and teachers in the education sector deeply understands that, to realize the aspiration to develop a prosperous country, on par with the world powers, the core driving force is none other than high-quality human resources and science and technology. This puts the education sector in a position that is both glorious and full of pressure and responsibility. The mentality of the teaching staff at this time is the mentality of being ready to act.
"We do not wait for the Congress with slogans, but wait for "orders" from practice, strategic decisions to "untie" thinking and unleash the abundant creativity in schools," said Ms. Thuy.

Ahead of the Congress, Ms. Thuy expressed 3 great expectations, which are also concerns of many union officials and teachers.
First, expectations for a truly and synchronous "colleague autonomous" institution. The team of cadres and teachers hopes that the Party will have resolutions directing the completion of the legal framework on university autonomy. Autonomy should not be narrowed to self- funding, but must be the empowerment of initiative in academics, organizations and personnel along with key investment from the State.
Especially for the key science and engineering sectors, the State needs to continue to play a leading role in resources. Only when there is an open mechanism can universities truly become a center for innovation, a place to produce the quintessence of the digital age.
Second, expectations for the realization of the Law on Teachers. During this term, the team of cadres and teachers especially look forward to the Law on Teachers coming into life. The team of cadres and teachers hopes that the Party will direct this Law to become a sharp legal tool to protect and create: Protect the honor and dignity of teachers against social pressure and cyberspace; create a worthy treatment regime, ensuring the spirit of "teacher salaries are ranked highest in the administrative career salary scale system". This is the most important lever to attract and retain talent for the pedagogical industry.
Third, it is expected to solve the problem of " settling down and making a living". In fact, the dream of a house to settle down is still quite distant for many young lecturers and teachers in disadvantaged areas. The team of cadres and teachers enthusiastically suggested that the Party and the State consider building social housing policy packages specifically for the teaching staff, or trade union institutions (houses, kindergartens, cultural areas, etc.) in areas with a large concentration of universities.
"I absolutely believe that the 14th Congress will be a congress of such humane and breakthrough decisions! ", Ms. Thuy affirmed.
