Lao Cai - The Trade Unions of communes and wards in the province have mobilized union members to participate in supporting the recovery of storm and flood consequences.

On the morning of October 1, in Mau A commune, more than 2,000 cadres, union members, association members, teachers, and local police, military and people's forces simultaneously launched the campaign "All people join hands and unanimously overcome the consequences of storm No. 10".

The activity was organized by the Mau A Commune Trade Union in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Youth Union, Women's Union, Farmers' Association, Veterans' Association and schools.

The forces quickly went to many severely affected locations such as Cau A1, Goc Da, Lam Truong, Hong Ha, Quyet Tien villages and the Trang Temple area to support the people.

Hundreds of union members, teachers, youth and people urgently clean up mud, fallen trees, restore traffic, temporarily repair public works, clear sewers, and clean the environment to prevent epidemics.

Previously, from September 28 to 30, the circulation of storm No. 10 caused heavy to very heavy rain in Au Lau ward with a total rainfall of nearly 300mm.

Floods in Ngoi Lau stream and Red River rose, causing more than 500 households to be urgently evacuated, many roads and residential areas were cut off, and estimated damage was about 5 billion VND.

In the recovery work, the Au Lau Ward Labor Union mobilized cadres, civil servants and shock forces to support people in evacuating and cleaning up after the flood, and at the same time coordinated to mobilize necessities and medicine to be delivered to deeply flooded and isolated households.

In Bao Thang commune, since September 26, the Standing Committee of the Commune Trade Union issued a document directing the grassroots trade union to closely monitor the situation of storms No. 9 and No. 10, promptly reporting the damage to union members and workers.

During heavy rains, the commune union coordinated with the government and unions to mobilize support forces to complete the evacuation of 151 households from dangerous areas. The 24/24 hour on-duty work is maintained seriously, ready to respond when floods continue.
