293 delegates attended the 1st Dong Thap Provincial Trade Union Congress

On the morning of December 26, at the Provincial Conference Center, My Tho Ward, the 1st Dong Thap Provincial Trade Union Congress, term 2025-2030, officially opened. Attending were 293 delegates representing 200,168 union members/206,545 workers and civil servants working in 756 grassroots unions and 90 guests.

The Congress is honored to welcome the presence of representatives of leaders of central and local agencies.

On the side of the central agency, there were Ms. Thai Thu Xuong - Member of the 15th National Assembly, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Ms. Do Hong Van - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

On the side of the leaders of Dong Thap province, there were Mr. Phan Van Thang - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap province; Mr. Dinh Van Dung - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap province.

The congress was also attended by Ms. Huynh Thi Tuyet Vui - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL), Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, President of the Dong Thap Provincial Federation of Labor and comrades who are leaders and former leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, Labor Federations of the two provinces of Dong Thap and Tien Giang before the merger...

At the first working session, delegates elected a Presidium of 9 members, a Congress Secretariat of 3 members, and a Delegation status Inspection Committee of 3 members; approved the working program and regulations; reported the results of the review and voted to recognize the status of delegates attending the Congress.

On behalf of the Congress Presidium, Ms. Huynh Thi Tuyet Vui - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, President of the Dong Thap Provincial Federation of Labor, delivered the opening speech.

Accordingly, in the period of 2023-2025, Dong Thap Provincial Trade Unions at all levels have made many efforts to strive to overcome many difficulties and challenges, and well implement the goals and tasks set by the Resolution of the Provincial Trade Union Congress.

In particular, the content and forms of Trade Union activities are increasingly diverse, diverse and innovative, always oriented towards the grassroots with increasingly improved quality, the work of caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and employees is of top concern and the Trade Union organization is always a trusted representative of employees.

Those achievements not only contribute to the completion of the province's socio-economic targets but also enhance the position of the Trade Union organization in the current period," Ms. Vui emphasized.

According to Ms. Vui, this achievement is the result of the in-depth leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee and the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the outstanding efforts of the Trade Unions at all levels in the province. However, in the new context, the domestic and international situation has many challenges, requiring the Dong Thap Provincial Trade Union to propose specific tasks and solutions suitable to the reality of the workers' movement and trade union activities in the new situation.

With the spirit of "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Innovation - Development", the Congress is tasked with objectively and comprehensively assessing the achieved results, pointing out the limitations and shortcomings of the workers' movement and trade union activities in the period of 2023 - 2025, analyzing the weaknesses, clearly identifying the causes, thereby drawing experiences to determine the goals, directions, tasks and propose appropriate solutions for implementation in the coming term; Contributing to the draft amendment and supplementation of the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union.
