Lao Cai Trade Union supports 262 "Union Shelters"

Taking workers as the center

In the period of 2023 - 2025, in the context of many intertwined difficulties and challenges, Lao Cai Provincial Trade Union has closely followed the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, proactively innovated the content and methods of operation in a practical and effective manner, focusing on the grassroots, taking workers as the center.

Implementing the Central Government's policy on streamlining the organizational apparatus, from July 1, 2025, Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation was established on the basis of merging the Labor Federations of Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces. After the merger, the provincial Trade Union organization will operate according to a new, streamlined model, managing 11 commune and ward trade unions, 513 grassroots trade unions with nearly 41,000 union members.

Practical care, spreading trust

With the motto "taking workers as the center", the work of representing and protecting trade unions at all levels has been implemented synchronously and clearly marked. In the past 3 years, Lao Cai Provincial Trade Union has contributed opinions to 226 draft documents related to labor and trade unions; coordinated inspection and supervision of the implementation of labor laws and democratic regulations at more than 1,200 units; participated in investigating 17 cases of labor accidents.

Dialogue forums between provincial leaders, National Assembly deputies, enterprises and workers are held regularly, contributing to stabilizing labor relations and limiting disputes.

Programs bearing the union's mark such as "Tet Sum Vay", "Worker's Month", "Zero-dong store", "Union Tet Market", supporting "Union Shelter" houses are widely deployed, creating a wide spread in society.

In the period of 2023 - 2025 alone, the provincial trade union has supported the renovation and repair of 262 Trade Union Shelters with a total cost of more than 10.8 billion VND; cared for and supported over 435,000 workers, civil servants and laborers with a total amount of more than 184 billion VND; visited and presented gifts to nearly 176,000 workers in difficult circumstances.

Steadily entering a new term

In addition, patriotic emulation movements continue to be widely implemented among workers, civil servants, and laborers, focusing on the movement "Good workers, creative workers". The programs "1 million initiatives", "2,000 initiatives - flexible, creative" attract tens of thousands of initiatives to participate.

From 2023 to present, the whole province has 1,390 emulation projects and products with a profit value of 18.7 billion VND; many individuals were awarded the Creative Labor Certificate and Nguyen Duc Canh Award. The "Green - Clean - Beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and hygiene" movements, culture - sports continue to create a vibrant competitive atmosphere, connecting workers with businesses and trade unions.

Speaking at the Congress, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Nhiem - Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairwoman of Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation - emphasized: "Entering the 2025 - 2030 term, Lao Cai Provincial Labor Union has determined the motto of action: "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Innovation - Development". With a solid foundation, clear orientation and consensus of workers, civil servants and laborers, Lao Cai Provincial Trade Union firmly enters a new term - the term of innovation, creativity and sustainable development".
