After more than 3 months of implementation, the program "Gifts from the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress" has reached many union members and workers suffering from dangerous diseases and occupational diseases. Lao Dong Newspaper reporters recorded the sincere feelings of workers when leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour came to present gifts.

More faith to rise up

In the program "Gifts from the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress", Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu visited and presented gifts to two union members of Foremart Vietnam Co., Ltd. who are in particularly difficult circumstances and are being treated for a serious illness. One of the two union members is Ms. Hoang Thi Huong (Nguyen Trai commune, Hung Yen province) suffering from thyroid tumor. Ms. Huong's husband worked as a construction worker and died suddenly in 2018. Ms. Huong alone raised two children of school age. She lives with her mother-in-law who has colon cancer. Her family circumstances are very difficult.

Receiving a gift from the program "Gifts from the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress", Ms. Huong was very touched. She said that despite difficult circumstances, she always told herself to try to overcome them to take care of her children and mother-in-law. It was the Trade Union and the business that brought her faith and encouragement to rise up.

Like Ms. Hoang Thi Huong and many union members in difficult circumstances, when receiving support from the "Gifts from the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress" Program, Ms. Dang Thi Tu, a May 10 worker, shed tears at the concern of Trade Union levels.

Ms. Dang Thi Tu has stage 4 chronic kidney failure, other anemia, non-specific polycystic kidney, urinary tract infection, unidentified location. Ms. Tu had to quit her job to be treated at Duc Giang Hospital from February 4, 2025 to the end of February 28, 2025, then asked to be discharged from the hospital, receiving outpatient treatment at home from March 1, 2025 to March 31, 2025. After outpatient treatment, the results did not improve well, she herself could not eat, her body trembled. By April 1, 2025, she had to be hospitalized at Viet Duc Hospital for hemodialysis and dialysis treatment. To date, she still has to have dialysis twice a week at Viet Duc Hospital.

I am proud to be a Trade Union member.

23,378 union members and workers are supported

Reality shows that the Program "Gifts from the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress" has promptly concretized the spirit of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress according to the motto of strongly focusing on grassroots levels, taking union members and workers as the center; conveying the political message of the Congress into specific and practical care activities, with targets, levels of support and clear implementation methods. Thereby, contributing to affirming the spirit of "Congress of Action", creating a practical mark right from the beginning of the 2026-2031 term.

According to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the fact that 23,378 union members and workers are supported shows that the program's scale is relatively large and has a strong spillover effect. The selection of workers suffering from critical illnesses and occupational diseases shows the sharing and companionship of the Trade Union organization with workers in the most difficult times they face.

The program "Gifts from the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress" is not only a round of gift-giving support but also a pilot step of care policies nationwide, linking direct support with digital transformation and creating a database to build long-term welfare policies for union members and workers suffering from critical illnesses and occupational diseases in the coming time.
