Research solutions to warn train approach for railway workers

On May 4, information from Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company said that the unit is researching and testing the application of approach warning solutions to support ensuring safety for railway industry officials and employees, especially road patrol staff on duty.

Accordingly, the technical solution to help warn nearby ships is based on radio signal transmission technology, ensuring early warning capability for workers within a distance of 1,000m to 2,000m.

According to a representative of Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company, road patrol forces when working alone in hilly, remote areas, far from residential areas at night, when encountering unexpected health incidents... it is very difficult to handle to ensure safety.

Although Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company regularly organizes training on procedures and regulations to ensure safety when performing tasks, unexpected situations still occur.

As in the incident that occurred at 5:10 am on May 1, 2026, freight train HH7, locomotive 913 running from Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City to Km1566+600 in the Ham Cuong Tay - Suoi Van section (in Ham Kiem commune, Lam Dong province) collided with a railway worker, causing the victim to die on the spot. The victim was identified as Mr. L.D. H (born in 1993), Deputy Minister of Suoi Van Road Bridge of Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company who was in the process of being assigned to perform road patrol duties as assigned.

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Tien - Deputy Director, Chairman of the Trade Union of Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company, in the past time, the Board of Directors and the Company's Trade Union organization have paid great attention and care to employees such as: Increasing salaries for road patrol forces, having preferential treatment regimes, incentive mechanisms when completing tasks well and strictly handling cases of violations of rules and procedures...

After the painful incident above occurred, the company actively coordinated with functional agencies to examine the scene, investigate and clarify the cause, organize initial funeral arrangements at the scene, arrange specialized vehicles to take the victims to their families in Phuc Trach commune, Ha Tinh province, as well as send a working delegation to accompany the victims' families to share and encourage them.
