How is the salary of officers and professional soldiers calculated from July 2026

Clauses 1, 2, Article 3, Decree 161/2026/ND-CP stipulating the base salary and bonus regime for cadres, civil servants, public employees and armed forces (effective from July 1, 2026), stipulates as follows:

1. Base salary used as a basis:

a) Calculate salary levels in salary scales, allowance levels and implement other regimes according to the provisions of law for subjects specified in Article 2 of this Decree

b) Calculate operating fees and living expenses according to the provisions of law;

c) Calculate deductions and benefits according to the base salary level.

2. From July 1, 2026, the base salary is 2.53 million VND/month.

Point d, Clause 1, Article 2 of Decree 161/2026/ND-CP stipulates the subjects of application as follows:

e) Officers, professional soldiers, workers, defense officials, defense civil servants and contract workers of the Vietnam People's Army;

Thus, from July 1, 2026, the salary calculation method for officers and professional soldiers is based on the base salary of 2.53 million VND/month.
