Occupational diseases and procedures and examination contents for disease detection
The newly issued Ministry of Health Circular 56/2025/TT-BYT guiding occupational disease management takes effect from February 15, 2026.
In which, the process and content of occupational disease detection are based on Article 9.
Article 9. Procedures and contents of occupational disease detection
1. Procedure for detecting occupational diseases:
a) Before examining for occupational diseases, employers or employees must send to medical examination and treatment facilities complete documents as prescribed in Article 8 of this Circular;
b) After receiving complete documents, the medical examination and treatment facility shall notify the time, location and other necessary contents related to the examination and detection of occupational diseases to the employer or employee;
c) Conduct the first detection of occupational diseases according to the provisions of Clause 2 of this Article;
d) At the end of the examination, medical examination and treatment facilities complete the book of occupational disease detection; summarize the results of the occupational disease detection examination according to the form prescribed in Appendix V issued with this Circular;
d) In case of being diagnosed with occupational diseases, medical examination and treatment facilities must prepare a Occupational Medical Examination Certificate according to the form prescribed in Appendix VI issued with this Circular and prepare a report on cases of employees with occupational diseases according to the form prescribed in Appendix VII issued with this Circular;
e) After organizing an occupational disease detection examination, within 20 days, the medical examination and treatment facility must return the results to the employer or employee with the documents on the nail signs at Point d and Point d, Clause 1 of this Article.
2. occupational disease examination content:
a) Fully exploit personal information, current health status, medical history of individuals and families, time of exposure to harmful factors that may cause occupational diseases to record the history of occupational contact in the occupational disease detection book;
b) Fully review the contents according to the diagnosis and assessment instructions for reducing working capacity due to occupational diseases of the Minister of Health;
c) For female workers, they must undergo obstetrics and gynecology examination according to the provisions of Appendix VIII issued with this Circular;
d) In case the employee has had a periodic health check-up, a health check-up certificate has been issued and is still valid according to the provisions of Circular No. 32/2023/TT-BYT, additional examinations will be conducted according to the contents prescribed in Point b of this Clause;
d) For occupational diseases not included in the list of occupational diseases eligible for social insurance, they must have full examinations of specialties as prescribed by doctors who are allowed to examine and treat occupational diseases according to the provisions of law on medical examination and treatment.
