Dong Day Tet brings warmth to disadvantaged families in Hai Phong

Mai Dung (báo lao động) 23/01/2026 09:49 (GMT+7)

Hai Phong - The 2026 Long Day program presented 25 gifts to disadvantaged households in Viet Hoa ward, spreading the message that no one is left behind.

Bringing Tet to " hands" the hardships

Recently, the 2026 Dong Day volunteer program has reached 25 cases in difficult circumstances in Viet Hoa ward. The program was organized by the Hai Duong Youth Blood Donation Campaign Club in coordination with the Hai Phong Rare Blood Club, Song Se Chia Volunteer Group (Hai Phong), the Viet Hoa Ward Youth Union and the Bach Mai General Clinic.

Mr. Pham Tuan Vu - Chairman of the Hai Duong Blood Donation Youth Club shared: To prepare for the program, from December 2025, club members have deployed points of sale (fruit) to raise funds at universities and densely populated areas in the area. Along with that, the club also received the support of volunteer groups, organizations, and philanthropists inside and outside the city. Thanks to that, 25 gifts in cash and in kind worth VND500,000/gift were given to families before Tet, bringing joy to those in difficult circumstances.

According to Mr. Vu, each case of visiting is a different situation, there are poor households, lonely elderly people, seriously ill people, sick and bedridden people... Handing out Tet gifts, club members and accompanying units receive the joy and precious affection from families. More than that, the stories and experiences throughout the journey help each member feel appreciative of life, motivated to continue spreading good and meaningful work.

As in the case of Mr. Ngo Van Thoai in residential group No. 6, Viet Hoa ward. Uncle Thoai lived alone, was old, and had poor health and could not walk. Seeing the volunteer group coming to the house, he smiled from afar, and when he got closer, he was moved with tears. It has been a long time since Mr. Thoai's house has been as bustling as it is, feeling as crowded as Tet.

"Another case is that Cao Van Vinh is being treated for terminal cancer. Although we cannot go to the place to give gifts to Uncle Vinh (due to his health conditions) but only send them to his relatives, we still hope that the gift will bring joy, encourage him to fight against his illness, and celebrate a warm Tet with his family" - Mr. Vu said.

Spreading good news

The Hai Duong Province Blood Donation Youth Club was established in September 2014, gathering dozens of volunteers who are students of colleges and universities in the western area of Hai Phong City. After more than 11 years of operation, the Club has become a powerful "hand" in the propaganda and mobilization of blood donation of the City Red Cross Society, mobilizing thousands of units of blood, spreading the message "each drop of blood given, a life remains" in the community. Most recently, on January 11, the Hong Xu Dong Drot blood donation point was successfully organized at Hai Duong General Hospital, recording 115 units of blood received, bringing hope and life opportunities to patients.

In addition to activities on mobilizing and propagating voluntary blood donation, the Club always promotes the movement of gratitude and return to the poor, contributing to the locality in implementing social security policies. In particular, the Long Day Lunar New Year activity has been maintained for 5 years, bringing joy to hundreds of poor people, lonely elderly people, and seriously ill people in the area.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Quang - Head of the Song Se Chia volunteer group said: "On the occasion of the 2026 Long Day, the Song Se Sharing group contributed 10 gifts, each worth 500,000 VND. This is a meaningful activity that the group accompanies the Hai Duong Province Blood Donation Youth Club. From this activity, we also have more enthusiasm and motivation to carefully organize activities to care for Tet such as the Lunar New Year in Tien Lang commune or the 0 VND Tet Market for 200 patients in difficult circumstances being treated at Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital..., bringing the joy of Tet, spring to those in difficult circumstances".
