The Fatherland Front unites the Party's thoughts and people's hearts in the election
The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) has a very important role and responsibility in electing National Assembly deputies and electing People's Council deputies at all levels.

To make Election Day truly a national holiday
The first general election to elect the National Assembly of Vietnam took place on January 6, 1946 and was a major event in the history of the nation. After the great success of the August Revolution, despite the countless difficulties and fears in the foreign army, for the highest interests of the nation, determined to protect the independence and freedom that had just been won, consolidate the young revolutionary government, continue to unite all patriotic forces, with the wise and talented leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the General Election on January 6, 1946 was completely successful, entering the national history, marking a brilliant milestone in the process of building a democratic institution, legally affirming the right to mastery of the Vietnamese people: from slavery, standing up to gain independence, mastering national fate, organizing the State of one - the first workers' state in East Asia.
This victory opened a new era for the country to have a National Assembly, a unified Government, a progressive 1946 Constitution and a government system with a full legal basis to represent the Vietnamese people internally and internationally.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) has a very important role and responsibility in electing National Assembly deputies and electing People's Council deputies at all levels. This has been specifically stipulated in the Law on Election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies, the Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front and many other legal documents detailing and guiding its implementation. Through the elections of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has proactively prepared and participated in organizing well the steps and work to make Election Day truly a national holiday.
Specifically, the rights and responsibilities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels are stipulated in the 2013 Constitution; The Law on Election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies (amended and supplemented with a number of articles under Law No. 83/2025/QH15) and the Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front (amended and supplemented with a number of articles under Law No.7/2025/QH15).
Article 4, Clause 5 of the Law on Election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies (Location Law) stipulates: "The Vietnam Fatherland Front organizes consultations to select and introduce candidates for National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels; participate in supervising the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels".
Article 19 of the Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front stipulates: The Vietnam Fatherland Front, in accordance with the law, organizes meetings, selects and introduces candidates for National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies; participates in organizations in charge of elections; coordinates with relevant state agencies to organize voter conferences at the commune level, meetings between voters and candidates; participates in propaganda and mobilization of voters to implement laws on elections.
Thus, according to regulations, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has important rights and responsibilities in the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies, specifically as follows: participating in election-responsible organizations; organizing consultations to select and introduce candidates for National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels; coordinate the organization of voter conferences at the commune level, meetings with voters; participate in propaganda and mobilization of voters to implement election laws; receive citizens, process petitions and participate in resolving complaints, denunciations, recommendations and reflections related to election work and candidates; participate in supervising the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels.
Selecting outstanding and worthy people
The election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term is an important political event of the country; a broad democratic activity among the people to promote the right to mastery, select outstanding and worthy people, representing the will, aspirations and the right to mastery of the people.
In exercise of their rights and responsibilities, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front recently held the first Business Conference to discuss the structure, composition, and number of people of agencies, organizations, and units at the Central level recommended for the 16th National Assembly.
Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairwoman of the National Election Council emphasized that, seriously and promptly grasping the direction of the Politburo, the election preparation work is being strictly, unified and proactively implemented from the Central to local levels, creating an important foundation for successfully organizing the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels, expected to be held on March 15, 2026. The success of the election depends on many factors, including the extremely important role and responsibility of the Vietnam Fatherland Front system.
Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai emphasized that organizing a conference to negotiate and introduce candidates for National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies is an extremely important task in the election process, in order to agree on the structure, composition and number of delegates of agencies, organizations and units recommended for nomination, at the same time, prepare a preliminary list and select and officially list candidates for National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels.
At the conference, delegates voted unanimously on the expected total number of people recommended to run for the 16th National Assembly of agencies, organizations and units at the Central level of 217 delegates.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly, the Politburo and the National Assembly have decided the election date to March 15, 2026 (January 27, Binh Ngo year). Thus, the time of the second and third rounds of trading, as well as organizing related conferences, falls right on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026. Procedures, negotiation processes, and consultation with voters at workplaces and residences are carried out according to the prescribed regulations, so the role of the Front from the central to local levels is very important, ensuring that the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and the election of deputies to the People's Council for the 2026-2031 term is truly a political event for the whole country and the nation, and also a great festival for the entire people.
Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh stated: Selecting and electing outstanding delegates, representing the will, aspirations and intelligence of the people participating in the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels is a key task of the entire Party, people and army in 2026.
