Da Nang gives nearly 35,000 ginseng seedlings to Tra Linh people
Da Nang - Tra Linh Commune People's Committee has donated more than 34,000 Ngoc Linh ginseng seeds to the Xor Dang people.
Implementing the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, the People's Committee of Tra Linh Commune has recently handed over 34,788 Ngoc Linh ginseng seeds (1-year-old variety) to 82 poor households. The total budget for this support period is more than 5.4 billion VND, drawn from the National Target Program capital.
The beneficiaries are Xo Dang ethnic minorities, who are in difficult circumstances but have the desire and will to escape poverty sustainably. Tra Linh commune has long been known as the "capital" of Ngoc Linh ginseng. With specific climate and soil conditions at an altitude of over 1,500m, this is the most ideal land for ginseng to grow and produce the highest pharmaceutical results.
According to the People's Committee of Tra Linh commune, supporting ginseng seedlings is not only in line with the planning of growing areas but also helps people take advantage of local advantages to develop the forest economy. This is a fundamental solution to soon stabilize life and reduce poverty substantially in the locality.
Ngoc Linh ginseng is a leading rare medicinal herb in Vietnam, bringing extremely high economic value. On the market today, fresh ginseng (10 roots/kg) costs more than 100 million VND; even fresh ginseng leaves cost more than 6 million VND/kg.
