Commune and ward police support people to return money transferred by mistake
Commune and ward police in Son La and Phu Tho provinces have recently supported people to return money that was transferred by mistake.
According to the Ministry of Public Security's Electronic Information Portal, on January 21, 2026, Phieng Pan Commune Police (Son La Province) contacted and coordinated with Dong Anh Commune Police (Hanoi City) to support the person who accidentally gave the money back to Ms. Le Thi Hong Tham.
Previously, Ms. Le Thi Hong Tham (born in 1989, residing in Dong Anh commune, Hanoi) reported information and requested the Phieng Pan commune police to verify the following: At 8:00 p.m. on November 28, 2025, due to negligence, Ms. Tham transferred the wrong amount of 19 million VND.
After receiving the information, Phieng Pan Commune Police verified the incident and determined that the account number receiving the mistaken transfer amount was of Mr. Ha Van Pien (born in 1979, residing in Phieng Pan Commune).
When Phieng Pan Commune Police invited him to work, Mr. Pien learned that he had the above 19 million VND in his account and voluntarily returned the entire amount.
Receiving the money back, Ms. Tham was extremely moved and sent her thanks to Mr. Ha Van Pien and the Phieng Pan Commune Police for the honest spirit of the people and the sense of responsibility of the Commune Police force.
Recently, Thanh Mieu Ward Police (Phu Tho Province) also coordinated with relevant units to verify and support citizens to return the amount of 195 million VND to the person who transferred it by mistake.
Previously, at around 7:20 p.m. on January 18, 2026, Mr. Duong Hong Thai (born in 1995, residing in Thanh Mieu ward, Phu Tho province) received a transaction notification message from the Military Bank (MB) stating that his account had just been transferred to an amount of 195 million VND from a strange account.
Immediately after receiving the notification, Mr. Thai checked all personal transactions as well as relationships but could not determine the origin of the above amount. Realizing that this could be a case of mistaken money transfers, Mr. Thai proactively reported to Thanh Mieu Ward Police, requesting support for verification to return according to regulations.
Upon receiving the information, Thanh Mieu Ward Police quickly verified and coordinated with MB Bank to clarify the owner of the money transfer account. Thereby, it was determined that the amount of 195 million VND was transferred by Mr. Dang Dinh Chien (born in 1981, residing in Chuong My commune, Hanoi) due to negligence in the bank transaction process.
After contacting and instructing the parties to properly follow the legal procedures, at 3:00 p.m. on January 19, witnessed by Thanh Mieu Ward Police, Mr. Duong Hong Thai fully returned the full amount of 195 million VND to Mr. Dang Dinh Chien.
