Female principal keeps the fire of Khmer culture in Tra Vinh
As the first Khmer female doctor in Tra Vinh province, Ms. Ngo So Phe not only tries to overcome learning difficulties but also is dedicated to developing human resources and preserving the Khmer culture of the South. Those contributions helped her be nominated for honor at " Glory of Vietnam 2025".
Aspiration to contribute to Khmer human resources
Dr. Ngo So Phe, Principal of SLASKA School, has made great contributions to the development of the school, achieved many titles and was honored in the program " Glory of Vietnam in 2025".
Ms. So Phe said that she is a Khmer ethnic group, always cherishing the development of human resources for her people. After graduating and working at Tra Vinh University, she was appointed Principal of SLASKA - a school assigned by the Government to a national key task of professional training in Khmer language, culture and art in the South.
As a Khmer ethnic, Ms. So Phe clearly understands the characteristics, customs, uniqueness and cultural identity of her ethnic group. This is very convenient for the management and orientation of Khmer human resource development at the school.
In recent times, she and the school's lecturers and students have conducted many scientific research topics at the provincial and national levels on preserving and conserving the cultural characteristics of the Khmer people. The school also actively participates in international cooperation activities and cultural exchanges with countries such as India and the Philippines.
Nearly 90% of students have jobs after graduation
Dr. Ngo So Phe said that identifying students' job opportunities as the survival of the school, from which the school is very interested in creating job opportunities for students. According to statistics, nearly 90% of Khmer students have stable jobs after graduation, in accordance with their expertise. The school is affiliated with THACOARI Group so that Khmer Language students can do internships with a salary of about 6 million VND/month and receive accommodation support. After the internship, the group will prioritize recruitment. This is a good opportunity for students, said Dr. Phe.
A student at SLASKA School, Mr. Trieu Thanh Hung, from Soc Trang, said that Ms. Phe boldly invited Khmer artisans to the school to attend the course. This helps students directly contact the quintessence of traditional culture, improve training quality and competitiveness in the labor market. " Her talented leadership and practical innovations have helped me succeed at work and continue to study at the highest level," Mr. Hung shared.
According to Ms. Thach Thi Dan - Vice Principal of Tra Vinh University, Dr. Ngo So Phe has made many efforts in training Khmer human resources, both male and female. I believe that Dr. Ngo So Phe will continue to contribute to the development of SLASKA School and Tra Vinh University, said Ms. Dan.
Dr. Ngo So Phe, Principal of SLASKA School, is one of 20 outstanding models nominated for the honor in the Vinh Quang Vietnam 2025 program.
Vinh Quang Vietnam is a special political, cultural and social event directed by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, in coordination with the Central Emulation and Reward Committee, assigned Lao Dong Newspaper to directly implement annually, continuously from 2004 to present.
This year's program - the 21st - has the theme "Pride and Aspiration", to honor collectives and individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the 80 years of building and defending the Fatherland, making important contributions to socio-economic development, especially in the fields of digital economy, green economy, innovation and sustainable development.
The award ceremony will take place on June 22, 2025 at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace, Hanoi.
