Workers face difficulties, the Union encourages both mentally and materially

Spreading the spirit of humanity

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Loi - security guard at the Center for Environment and Public Services of Gio Linh commune (Quang Tri) - has a hard life. After getting married, he was infertile, his wife had red lupus, which cost expensive treatment. The couple's income from security and work is only enough to cover their living expenses.

Knowing this situation, the Trade Union of the Center for Environment and Public Services of Gio Linh commune coordinated with the Party Cell and unit leaders to launch a fundraising campaign. Mr. Nguyen Van Hoang - Chairman of the Central Trade Union - said: "We determined on a voluntary basis, but most of us were enthusiastically participating, sharing difficulties with our colleagues".

In a short time, the collective of 36 officers and employees of the unit has raised 5.8 million VND. Although the amount of money is not large, it contains affection, responsibility and the spirit of "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves", helping Mr. Loi's family gain more confidence and determination to overcome difficulties.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoang affirmed that these meaningful activities show the practical role of the Trade Union in caring for the lives and protecting the rights of union members. At the same time, this is also a bond that strengthens solidarity and cohesion between members of the collective.

Not only in Gio Linh, that spirit also spreads in many other units. At the Thach Han Regional Medical Center, Dr. Le Phuoc Anh - a union member - unfortunately suffered a heart attack and multiple organ failure, and had to undergo continuous blood filtration at a huge cost of treatment. During the difficult time, the grassroots Trade Union connected and mobilized 18.4 million VND in support. The Provincial Federation of Labor also directly visited and presented gifts worth 1 million VND, demonstrating timely companionship and sharing.

Practical care for union members and workers

Not only in specific cases, caring for workers has become a continuous task of the Quang Tri Trade Union at all levels. The whole province currently has 723 grassroots unions with more than 43,200 union members. In recent years, trade unions at all levels have closely followed the policies of the Party and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, implementing many rich activities, from "Tet Sum Vay", "Union Market", "Union Meal" to long-term welfare programs such as the Union Shelter.

According to Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor Nguyen The Lap, despite many difficulties, the movement of workers, civil servants, laborers and trade union activities in Quang Tri still achieved many important results, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.

With the motto of focusing on the grassroots, all for union members and workers, the Quang Tri Trade Union will continue to innovate its methods of operation, promote its role as a representative, caretaker and protect the legitimate rights of workers - Mr. Nguyen The Lap said.

The gifts and houses of the Trade Union Shelter not only have material value but also light up confidence, giving union members more motivation to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
