The first congress of the trade union bloc of wards, communes and special zones in Quang Ninh

This is a congress of the trade union bloc of wards, communes and special zones of Quang Ninh province.

Attending and directing the congress were Mr. To Xuan Thao - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ninh province, Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial Labor Federation, along with comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Labor Federation, representatives of local Party committees and authorities and 150 delegates representing nearly 10,800 union members of 86 grassroots unions in the area.

Viet Hung Ward was established on the basis of merging 3 old administrative units, including Gieng Day Ward, Viet Hung Ward and part of Ha Khau Ward. After the merger, the ward has an area of over 41 km2, a population of nearly 52,000 people, of which the Viet Hung Ward Trade Union is currently managing 86 grassroots trade unions, with 10,787 union members.

In recent years, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters, climate change and the process of arranging administrative units, the Viet Hung Ward Trade Union has made efforts to affirm its role as a reliable support for union members and workers.

During the past term, the ward union has performed well the role of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers; proactively coordinated periodic dialogues, signed collective labor agreements, and effectively implemented occupational safety and hygiene work. Currently, 32 grassroots trade unions in enterprises have built a network of more than 200 occupational safety and hygiene workers.

The work of caring for union members' lives has been practically implemented through the programs "Tet Sum Vay" and "Worker's Month", supporting thousands of workers in difficulty. Every year, grassroots trade unions have presented over 2,000 Tet gifts and supported bus tickets for workers to return home for Tet, with a total value of nearly 1 billion VND.

In addition, propaganda and education on politics and law have been innovated; patriotic emulation movements such as "Good workers, creative workers", "Exemplary advanced workers" have been widely implemented; at the same time, focus on improving the quality of trade union cadres, innovating methods of operation, paying attention to financial work and women's work.

Speaking at the congress, Mr. To Xuan Thao - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ninh province, Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial Labor Federation - highly appreciated the results of the activities of the Viet Hung Ward Trade Union, and at the same time requested the new Executive Committee to continue to perform well the function of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights of union members and workers; coordinate the effective implementation of grassroots democracy regulations; promote emulation movements towards the goal of " old productivity - Quality - Efficiency", "Welfare guarantees "Better Welfare".

Continue to strengthen inspection and supervision of compliance with the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union, resolutions of higher-level trade unions, as well as the implementation of Collective Labor Agreements and legal policies directly related to workers, contributing significantly to improving the quality of trade union organization and activities.

With the motto of action "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Innovation - Development", the congress determined the goal: Promoting the tradition of "discipline and Unity", building a strong, professional and effective trade union organization; caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers; contributing to building Viet Hung ward to develop quickly, sustainably, civilly and affectionately.
