Vietnam National Shipping Lines Trade Union strives to develop at least 3,000 new union members

Attending the Congress were Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Nguyen Canh Tinh - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam National Shipping Lines; Le Anh Son - Deputy Party Committee Secretary, General Director of Vietnam National Shipping Lines; Junya Ishino - Chief Representative of the Japanese Seafood Trade Union in Vietnam... and 162 official delegates.

Nearly 9.4 billion VND to take care of union members and workers

In the period of 2023 - 2025, in the context of facing many difficulties and challenges more than expected, but with the outstanding efforts of the entire system, the trade unions at all levels of Vietnam National Shipping Lines have made efforts to successfully implement the set targets and tasks. There have been many innovations and innovations in the organization and implementation work with the motto of taking union members and workers as the center, focusing on performing well the function of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers.

Some unique activities of the Corporation's Trade Union continue to be implemented, replicated, recognized by Party committees and professionals, and respected by union members and workers. The role and position of the Trade Union organization has been increasingly enhanced, contributing significantly to the important achievements of Vietnam National Shipping Lines on the 30-year journey of construction and development.

Typically, implementing Decision 217-QD/TW (2013) of the Politburo on social supervision and criticism, in the period of 2023 - 2025, the General Corporation's Trade Union has organized supervision at 11 units with the following supervision contents: Implementation of the Grassroots Democracy Regulations at the workplace, implementation of Collective Labor Agreements, policies, occupational safety and hygiene; use of welfare funds, implementation of policies for employees when enterprises carry out restructuring and labor arrangement.

Despite facing many difficulties from the general economic context, the Corporation's trade unions at all levels still allocate tens of billions of VND to effectively and promptly implement the work of caring for the interests, material and spiritual life of union members, of which the total budget for activities to care for the interests of employees at the Corporation's trade union level is nearly 9.4 billion VND.

The annual Workers' Month activity is widely implemented by the Corporation's trade unions at all levels, focusing on direct workers in difficult circumstances. In the period of 2023 - 2025, the resources from the Corporation's Trade Union alone have spent about 1.1 billion VND to directly support nearly 900 union members and workers. Support activities are practically organized through working groups of the Corporation's Trade Union and representatives of grassroots trade unions visiting and giving gifts directly at the unit and to the workers' families.

The Trade Union Shelter Program continues to be implemented to the right people and in the right circumstances, promptly helping union members with housing difficulties. In three years (2023 - 2025), the Corporation's Trade Union has supported the construction and repair of 11 Trade Union Shelters with a total cost of more than 400 million VND...

Striving to develop at least 3,000 new union members

The 7th Congress, term 2025 - 2030 of the Vietnam National Shipping Lines Trade Union approved the targets to strive for. In particular, each year, strive for 100% of grassroots trade unions with state capital, at least 85% of non-state grassroots trade unions participate with employers in promulgating and implementing the Grassroots Democracy Regulations; strive for each grassroots trade union to average introduce at least 01 outstanding union member for the Party to consider and admit...

For the term target, strive to develop at least 3,000 new union members, actually increase 1,000 union members, establish 5 grassroots unions; strive to have at least 5,000 initiatives and single-useizen of union members and workers applied in production, business and work activities...

The Congress also identified 3 breakthroughs including:

Focus on performing the task of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers. Improve the effectiveness of dialogue and collective bargaining; build harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations, promote production and business development.

Build a team of union officials rich in knowledge and strong in skills. Promote innovation, strongly apply digital transformation in trade union activities. Participating in developing policies to improve the qualifications of workers, building a modern team of workers, civil servants, and employees at sea, meeting the requirements of national development in the new era.

Strengthen propaganda, promote the implementation of corporate culture; develop the core values of Maritime workers "Diction, dedication, creativity, unity, and integrity".

Speaking at the Congress, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam National Shipping Lines Nguyen Canh Tinh both affirmed that the Vietnam National Shipping Lines Trade Union has made many innovations and creativity in directing, operating and organizing implementation.

For the new term, the Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized the need to put the task of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers first. In all activities, the Union must be the most reliable support of union members.

In addition, strongly innovate the content and methods of Trade Union activities, focusing on promoting innovation and digital transformation in Trade Union activities.

Focus on developing union members, establishing grassroots unions and building a strong and comprehensive union organization... The union must study and participate strongly with professionalism in training and improving the qualifications of workers, contributing to building and strongly spreading the image of modern, disciplined, creative and responsible Maritime workers, capable of flexibly adapting to changes to fulfill assigned duties and responsibilities...

The Congress elected an Executive Committee of 27 people. Mr. Mai Le Loi was re-elected as Chairman of the Trade Union of Vietnam National Shipping Lines.
