Gia Lai Trade Union strives to develop 5,000 new union members/year

Gia Lai - On the morning of December 30, the 1st Provincial Trade Union Congress for the 2025-2030 term opened the official working session.

The congress was attended by Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan; Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee Thai Dai Ngoc; Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province Nguyen Ngoc Luong; and 200 delegates representing more than 80,000 union members.

Affirming courage, pioneering role

Speaking at the opening of the 1st Gia Lai Provincial Trade Union Congress, Mr. Ha Duy Trung - Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial Trade Union - affirmed that the congress is an important political event for the team of workers, civil servants, and laborers (CNVCLD); a milestone demonstrating the bravery, intelligence, aspiration to rise up and the pioneering role of the Trade Union organization, contributing to building Gia Lai to develop well in the country.

The Congress focused on evaluating the labor movement and the results of performing tasks in the past term (especially after the merger of provinces), deciding on goals and directions for the 2025-2030 term in conjunction with the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress and the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Congress. The Congress also reviewed the Executive Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor for the 2023-2028 term; discussed and commented on documents of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; commented on amending the Charter of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and a number of other important contents.

Mr. Ha Duy Trung said that during the preparation and organization of the congress, the Trade Unions at all levels have received attention and close direction; important opinions and suggestions from provincial leaders, leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, former leaders of the Provincial Trade Unions through the periods and many related agencies and units.

"I believe that the congress will be successful, opening a new, strong and sustainable development stage for the labor movement and the Gia Lai Provincial Trade Union organization," Mr. Trung expressed.

Innovation of activities, solid role in caring

Presenting a report at the congress, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy - Vice President of the Gia Lai Provincial Federation of Labor - said that for the 2025-2030 term, the Provincial Trade Union aims to innovate the organization and operation of the Trade Union in the direction of streamlining, flexibility, professionalism and modernity, focusing strongly on the grassroots. Maintain the role of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights of union members and workers.

At the same time, the Trade Union will strengthen the development of union members, establish grassroots trade unions and improve the quality of the staff, contributing to building Gia Lai into a province with comprehensive development.

The provincial trade union sets 12 annual targets, including: Developing 5,000 new union members/year; 90% of union members are propagandized and learn policies and laws; 65% of workers improve their qualifications and vocational skills; 100% of state-owned trade unions and 85% of non-state trade unions implement democratic regulations; 100% of labor disputes with union representatives; 1,500 initiatives of union members and employees and 8 research topics are applied and rewarded;

Each grassroots trade union introduces at least 1 outstanding union member to the Party; 100% of union cadres are trained in professional skills; 90% of commune/ward trade unions, 85% of state-owned trade unions and 65% of non-state grassroots trade unions are good quality; 100% of grassroots trade unions are qualified to establish Women's Union; conduct inspection and supervision, at least 20% of enterprises are audited financially; each union builds a new model in operation.

3 targets by the end of the term: Strive for the whole province to have over 100,000 union members; 100% of non-state enterprises with 20 or more employees to establish a union organization; 85% of enterprises and units with unions to sign collective labor agreements, of which at least 60% are of type B or higher.

3 breakthroughs in the term: Focus on dialogue, negotiation, signing collective labor agreements on wages, working hours, occupational safety and hygiene; Develop union members, establish grassroots unions in non-state enterprises and the informal labor sector; Innovation of operating methods in the direction of taking union members and employees as the center, promoting digital transformation in propaganda, management and service of union members and employees.
