Dak Lak - Police and people have cooked Chung cakes together to support people severely affected by floods.
On November 20, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Cong Hoa - Head of Tan An Ward Police (Dak Lak Province) - said that the police force and people are urgently wrapping Chung cakes to support people in flooded areas.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Hoa, in the face of prolonged floods causing deep flooding in many areas, Tan An Ward Police have presided over and coordinated with the Mobile Police Regiment to organize Chung cakes and banh tet packages for relief food.
Upon hearing the news, people in the ward quickly gathered in the halls of residential groups and villages to join hands to wrap the cakes.
Ms. H'Xuan Nie (Tan An ward) shared: "On the night of November 19, when I saw images of people having to climb onto the roof to pray for help, I could not hold back my tears.
Thousands of houses in the eastern part of the province are submerged in water, and necessities are extremely urgent at this time. This morning, I arranged my work to go to the hall of the residential group and everyone wrapped cakes to send to the flooded areas."
It is expected that Tan An ward will wrap about 2,000 banh chung, banh tet and mobilize more than 1,000 boxes of instant noodles, 400 boxes of stream water and many other necessities to deliver to people in flooded areas.
At noon on November 21, Tan An Ward Police will organize two teams: One team to the eastern communes and wards of the province and one team to flooded areas of the old Krong Bong district to promptly provide relief to people.
As of noon on November 20, Dak Lak province has had 11 deaths and 4 missing people in the flood.
The whole province had 8 houses collapsed and washed away, 33,630 houses were flooded; 11,578 households were isolated and 11,242 households had to be urgently evacuated...
