Dak Lak - In recent years, hundreds of union members and workers have been supported by trade unions to repair and build new houses to settle down and make a living.

Joy in a new house

In recent years, along with the socio-economic development of Dak Lak province, the lives of union members and workers have been increasingly cared for and improved.

One of the profound humanitarian marks is the "Union Shelter" program, contributing to realizing the dream of settling down for many union members in difficult circumstances.

According to the Dak Lak Provincial Federation of Labor, in the period of 2023 - 2025, the "Union Shelter" program will be implemented synchronously and effectively by trade unions at all levels, clearly demonstrating the role of the trade union organization in caring for and sharing with union members and workers in difficult housing.

As a result, the provincial union mobilized nearly 16 billion VND to build and repair 330 "Union Shelters", promptly supporting union members to stabilize their lives.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan (member of the Trade Union of ASEAN Steel Joint Stock Company, Hoa Phu commune) is one of the workers who received support from the trade union to build new houses in 2025. Mr. Tuan's family is in difficult circumstances, his children are still young, and his wife does not have a stable job.

Sharing his joy in the new house, Mr. Tuan emotionally said: "For many years, my wife and I have only wanted to have a solid shelter to shelter from the sun, avoid rain, and take care of our children's education. Even though I try to save money, that dream is still far away because the cost of living is increasing".

"Thanks to the support of the union organization, my family has a solid house. The Lunar New Year 2026 will be a special milestone when the whole family gathers together in their dream house for the first time" - Mr. Tuan emotionally shared more.

Working at ASEAN Steel Joint Stock Company, Mr. Tran Van Trung was also supported by the union organization to build a new house during the year. Mr. Trung's family is in particularly difficult circumstances with 6 members. Among them, there was an elderly mother and the couple themselves were sick and had to be treated for a long time.

Previously, my family lived in a damp, cramped house. There were times when I thought I would always be winding around in trouble. Thanks to the support of the union organization, the family of 6 now has a stable home. With a new house, I will try to save money to treat my illness and take care of my children's education" - Mr. Trung confided.

The role of the trade union organization

Mr. Nguyen Phu Lap - Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial Federation of Labor - said that the "Union Shelter" is not simply a house, but also a symbol of sharing, the spirit of comrades and colleagues. Thereby, it clearly demonstrates the motto: "Where there are workers, there are trade unions".

The joy of the new shelters has added the confidence of union members and workers in the trade union organization, affirming their role as a solid support, a representative to protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers.

Thereby, contributing to building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations, actively contributing to the overall development of the province.

According to Mr. Nguyen Phu Lap, entering the coming period, in the context of increasingly deep integration, the provincial trade union organization needs to continue to innovate the content and methods of operation to meet the increasingly diverse needs of union members and workers.

Trade unions at all levels will continue to perform well the function of representing, caring for and protecting the rights of workers.

In particular, taking care of the material and spiritual lives of union members is still a key task. The "Union Shelter" program will be maintained and expanded, associated with livelihood support activities, income increase, and help workers escape poverty sustainably.

The Dak Lak Provincial Federation of Labor also promotes patriotic emulation movements, arousing creativity, responsibility and discipline among workers, civil servants and laborers.

In the coming period, the Dak Lak Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to set a target of supporting funding for the construction and repair of 100 "Union Shelters" for union members with difficult housing circumstances.
