If the gender of the fetus is disclosed for abortion, the doctor will be suspended from practice

Article 6 of the 2025 Population Law (effective from July 1, 2026) stipulates the following prohibited acts:

1. Propaganda, dissemination or information with untrue content, distorting the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws on population.

2. Difficulty in propagating, educating, mobilizing the dissemination of information, consulting on population, family planning, and accessing population services.

3. Select the gender of the fetus in any form; notify and reveal the gender of the fetus, except in cases prescribed by the Minister of Health to serve the diagnosis and treatment of gender-related diseases.

4. Forced or forced to have children or not have children.

5. Discrimination in access to population services.

6. Humanity is inhumane.

Article 15 of the 2025 Population Law stipulates the reduction of gender imbalance at birth as follows:

1. Encourage the inclusion of male-led substances above female-led substances, and no gender choice at birth in the village wishes and conventions of the community.

2. Suspend the practice of medical examination and treatment for those who have notified or disclosed the gender of the fetus for abortion and the suspension of this practice of medical examination and treatment shall comply with the provisions of the law on medical examination and treatment.

3. Every year, the Central Statistical Agency announces the situation of gender imbalance at birth so that the Government and local authorities at the provincial level can develop and implement appropriate intervention measures to minimize gender imbalance at birth.

Thus, from July 1, 2026, doctors may be suspended from medical examination and treatment if they reveal the gender of the fetus for abortion according to the above regulations.
