After the long Lunar New Year 2026 holiday, officials, civil servants, and public employees return to work according to regulations.
According to Official Dispatch 9859/VPCP-KGVX in 2025, the Prime Minister agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Official Dispatch 8764/BNV-CVL on the Lunar New Year holiday and National Day holiday in 2026.
Implementing the Prime Minister's direction, the Minister of Home Affairs issued Notice 9441/TB-BNV implementing the Lunar New Year 2026 holiday schedule as follows:
Officials, civil servants, public employees and employees of administrative agencies, non-business units, political organizations, socio-political organizations are entitled to Lunar New Year holidays in 2026 as follows: 5 days of leave according to regulations including 1 day before Tet and 4 days after Tet from Monday, February 16, 2026 Gregorian calendar (ie, December 29th of the year At Ty) to the end of Friday, February 20, 2026 Gregorian calendar (ie, January 4th of the year Binh Ngo).
According to Decision 188/1999/QD-TTg on the 40-hour working week regime issued by the Prime Minister, cadres, civil servants and employees in agencies, administrative units, non-business units, political organizations, socio-political organizations are entitled to Saturdays and Sundays off.
Thus, the Lunar New Year 2026 holiday schedule for officials, civil servants, and public employees will be from Saturday, February 14, 2026 (ie, December 27, year of At Ty) to the end of Sunday, February 22, 2026 (ie, January 6, year of Binh Ngo) including 5 Tet holidays according to regulations and 4 weekend holidays.
Therefore, the day of return to work after Tet 2026 for officials, civil servants, public employees and employees of administrative agencies, non-business units, political organizations, socio-political organizations is Monday, February 23, 2026, Gregorian calendar.
