5 job sectors heavily affected by AI
AI is clearly impacting 5 groups of fields including: Customer service; administration, accounting; content creation and translation; information technology; logistics.
On the morning of July 8, at the seminar "Jobs in the AI era: Challenges and opportunities for women and youth", Mr. Vu Quang Thanh, Deputy Director of Hanoi Employment Service Center (Hanoi Department of Home Affairs) said that the development of technology, digital transformation and digital economy is creating profound changes in the labor market as well as in all areas of socio-economic life.
According to Mr. Thanh, AI is clearly impacting 5 groups of fields including: Customer service, telecom and switchboards; administration, accounting, data entry; content creation and translation; information technology; manufacturing and logistics.
For women and young people, AI affects many industries, of which 4 groups are most clearly affected.
The first is the administrative - office and basic accounting block. This is an area with a high proportion of female workers, with many positions working according to procedures, so it is easy to be supported or replaced by AI. Currently, AI systems can process many nghiệp vụ faster and more efficiently, causing the demand for labor in some positions to decrease significantly.
Second is the field of customer service, retail and wholesale. These are mainly general jobs, not requiring high professional qualifications. Many stages have been replaced by automated answering systems and virtual assistants.
Third is the textile and garment and footwear industries. At large-scale enterprises, the application of robots and automated lines in repetitive stages will directly affect simple labor, in which the majority are female workers.
Fourth is the field of creativity, design and communication. This is a group of professions with many jobs that can be supported or replaced by AI, changing the working style and skill requirements of workers.

Faced with the changes in the labor market brought by AI, Ms. Pham Thi Huong - Principal of Hanoi Industrial Vocational College, said that the biggest challenge for young workers is not only access to technology but also the ability to apply technology in practice.
According to assessments by experts and businesses, many young workers have a professional background but lack in-depth digital skills and soft skills such as communication, teamwork, labor discipline and management skills.
To narrow this gap, training institutions need to soon add supporting competencies such as using specialized digital tools, teamwork, labor discipline and management skills.
In the next 5 years, the explosion of AI and automation will eliminate slow-adapting workers. The key solution is the "order-based" training model of businesses" - emphasized the Principal of Hanoi Industrial Vocational College.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Huong, Hanoi Vocational College of Industry currently has 15/25 majors ordered by businesses for training, requiring the curriculum to continuously update technology and closely follow the actual production line. This year, the school officially introduced digital skills and digital economy into the formal training program.
The goal is to train high-quality human resources that can meet the job immediately after graduation, reducing the time businesses have to retrain.
This preparation not only helps young workers, especially women, confidently master technology but also improves job and income opportunities in the context of a volatile labor market.

Ms. Pham Thi Huong also noted that to adapt to the new trend, women need to break through thinking, eliminate the prejudice of "technology is only for men". Proactively updating technology not only helps improve labor productivity but also contributes to reducing work pressure, creating more time for themselves and their families.
In addition, businesses also need to play a more proactive role in training, while prioritizing the recruitment of female workers - a force with advantages in diligence and meticulousness.
